Anyone else shocked at how bad Ariza has gotten?

If we didn't have ariza this team would be in shambles. He is our best defender and no way we can make a run in the playoffs without him. We don't need him to score more than 6-10 points a game to win. Would like to see him handle the ball less though he's not the strongest ball handler.

I just feel bad for him. He's a nice player and (at his best) just what we need. He was just asked to do too much and now he's got the deadlegs and can't throw it in the ocean.

The plus side with players like Ariza is when they fall off a cliff offensively they're still contributing on the other end, so it's not like anyone is going "we should have cut Trevor and kept Francisco" or anything.

Apples and oranges, one is a 10 year veteran with over 18k minutes logged for in for his career the other in his 4th season, 25 and only in his second year as starter. His legs are gone and is obious. Now for people asking for 2 way players, ya'll act like it the're all over the place waiting for someone to call them up.

When Corey Brewer finally cools off are we going to create this same thread?

He was shooting 19.5% from 3 with the T-wolves this season before the trade and is a career 29.6% three point shooter. And, as you all know, our offense requires perimeter players (and PF's!) to space the floor and take the open 3.

Really? What year was he worse than this year. He's playing good defense, and getting steals. But, the rest of his game is a disaster.

Oh man. There is a blast from the past. I remember thinking we got one over on Utah. err. No. Shandon proved to be nothing.

It's been reported that this dude puts up a serious # of shots every day. He works on his shooting... It's just a matter of fatigue and confidence at this point. Once he gets going, he's going to be okay.

I dont really mind his bad shooting numbers right now. His defense more than makes up for it.

    I am actually shocked, yes.

What the heck, man. Can you at least put together one good game to break the streak?

Is he the only player who has had both a positive (lord threeza) and negative (brick shooter) photoshop done in the first half of a season?

Looking at this, his shooting struggles began 6 games into the season. That's not tired legs, but I really have no better explanation. He's still playing great defense but looking more like a Tony Allen one way player than a Battier 3 & D player.

Correct. Had a blazing start, then been **** since.

I laugh at the folks who say it's only been a few games, or a few weeks or just a month.

NO! It's been season long ****.

He should def lower the amount of 3pt attempts for a while. He's decent at putting the ball on floor and driving to the cup. Maybe do that more in an attempt to get into the flow of the offense, then take the 3's in rhythm and when it feels right.

As long as that shot is falling in March or April I am good. I know it's been for a minute but eventually those shots will falls

I actually really like Trev.. matured a ton since his last stint here. His confidence looks really shaky right now. That said, I think he is in his head in a baaaaaaaad way.

I'm not shocked at all. It's why he isn't making $12+/year.

EXACTLY. I can't believe no one is talking about the minutes Ariza is being forced to play. Take note of the number of times McHale leaves him in, when the match ups would just as easily work with Brewer or KPap. I don't know what his minutes have been like over the past few games, but they seem to be excessive still — even though one of the main reasons for making the trade was to give Ariza and Harden some relief.

This is a bigger problem than Ariza "losing" his shot. It's about who has gas left in the tank for the playoffs.

I feel his defense pretty much makes up for it. But yes, I do cringe. But then when he gets a steal or hand on the mall to break up a play.

Defense falls apart typically if he is on bench for too long. Smith and Brewer should help this, but it really hasn't, yet.
