    Couple questions.

How early should I get there?

What are some good restaurants in the Sam Houston Race Park area?

A loooong time ago to see Alegria, but it was downtown in a metal tent. No idea about Sam Houston Park. Loved the show btw.

There's a hickory hollow right next to the race track.

    Other restaurants:
    Steamboat House (never been, steakhouse)
There's a lot of restaurants in the willowbrook area (this may be your best bet)

Can't help you on the times and all that

Eat by your house or on the way as there is not a whole lot around there that I know of. I would say you want to be in your seat ready to go 30 mins ahead because they have a little pre-show entertainment that is fun. So get there a hour ahead. It is a very different but awesome experience. Have Fun.

Willowbrook Mall area has plenty of restaurants. That's only about 3 miles away. Decently long line of cars to get into the park so don't wait too late before showing up.

We have been to six or seven over the years. This is the first one to take the grandkids. The racetrack area is devoid of culture, eat before you go. The clown show for the half hour before the official start time is fun. They mess with the arriving guests. The tent is small, the mid-priced seats are fine.

Eat brownies before you go if you can. It's as close to trippy as you can get.

Steamboat House is actually kind of OK. It is a little expensive, but it is pretty good.

wow, if you do a Google Map search for "Sam Houston Race Park" there is a Cirque du Soleil tent in the parking lot. It that actually the current tent or previous show? I didn't think google loaded the satellite images into the db that regularly.

Oh, and I second the Hickory Hollow restaurant nearby. But that's about it.

Been wanting to go, Tickets hella expensive.

There is a Subway, and a Jack in the Box close by. A Sonic/Texaco is near by also.
