On hour 32 of a scheduled week long fast to detox my body. Going to do this once every 6 months along with intermittent fasting throughout the week. I feel surprisingly well despite the hunger and fatigue. Anyone on cf have any experience with fasting?
Did one week once. I think day 2 is the toughest but after that your body will shut down and you'll have no energy whatsoever. Be very careful when you actually break the fast. If you start eating a steak dinner you could die. You need to ease back into it.
I think at first I drank some water mixed with about 10% pure fresh squeezed orange juice. Gradually upped to to where you can drink a whole glass of juice. After that you should be able to start introducing easily digestible foods like fruits and vegetables. Avoid gluten, legumes and meat for the first day after breaking.
Cool Moes. Thank you. Question: Why have you only done it once? Was it not what you expected? I want to eventually do a 30 day, but first things first, lol.
Actually I found the whole experience to be pretty pleasant other than some strange bowel movements from time to time. Definitely revitalizes and resets your system. I just don't really have time these days with work and kids to just lay around my house for a week with no distractions.
Never had a clean diet and at 30 my body is falling apart. Back and knee pain are contributing to a more sedentary lifestyle than I've ever wanted. I've read that by not putting a load on your body like digesting food all the time that your body is free to cleanse and repair ailments that lead to disease both of the body and of the mind.
Good luck with the fast. I did a week back when I was about 22. I worked myself up to it though. I would fast once a week in the beginning and work my way up. Living in Africa now I find myself eating healthier than I ever have. Also the amount of daily activity I get here is way more than I would normally get back in Texas. Again good luck. Hope you are doing good otherwise. Congrats on the marriage.
I appreciate it dude I really do. Are you eating healthier cause of the availability of healthier foods? You still cooking? How's the kid?
It's funny you say distractions because it is taking most of my mind to just sit here and not eat lol.
Availability and price of good fruits and veggies is insane. People also eat a lot less meat here, except for the maasai, who practically only eat meat and milk. Also the lack of availability of American type food is a major factor. I cook when I get the time for special occasions, like date nights and such. Amber does a lot of the mon-fri normal meals for breakfast and lunch. Right now we are in Tanzania for Swahili language school so we have our meals cooked for us. The little princess is 2 now and so smart. She actually goes to day school here with Tanzanian children that are 4 years old and she is holding her own and even learning Swahili. Good stuff. How is married life treating you? Do y'all want children anytime soon? [/thread derailment]
no, i get it. i've shared my story before. five years ago i did a 10 day fast. i was plagued by chronic plantar fasciitis. never had an issue since that fast and i ended up dropping around 75 pounds and have kept it off for nearly 3 years. there are healthy and unhealthy ways to fast. don't let anyone convince you that ALL water fasts are unhealthy or unnecessary. know your body and do the research.
