List your favorite country music cds. I am trying to add to my collection. Of note, a number of cds I recently purchased stand out: Joe Maphis Fire On The Strings, Willie Nelson Red Headed Stranger Don Williams Anthology and The Original Carter Family Can The Circle Be Unbroken . I recommend them all - ESPECIALLY JOE MAPHIS - he will blow you away with his guitar skills. Anyway, to real country music fans, what are your favorite cds? PS - if you mention garth brooks - anyone but his first album - you will lose all credibility with me!
If you're not a country music fan, then please refrain from posting in the thread. I want real responses to my question. VJ23K I know it's hard for you to grasp that some people actually listen to country music, but there are people that do. Please respect us.
I'm not a huge country fan, but I do like some classic bluegrass, ala Joe Maphis, Doc Watson, and Bill Monroe. If I had to recommend a single CD, it would probably be Strictly Instrumental by Watson plus Flatt and Scruggs. I love that one. It's a bit short, but brilliant. Another favorite of mine is Appalachian Swing by the Kentucky Colonels, featuring Clarence White, who later played with the Byrds. It's another all-instrumental album. Just as a little FYI, White also played on New Dimensions in Banjo and Bluegrass, which later became the soundtrack to Deliverance.
Guy Clark, Old No. 1 Willie, Teatro Johnny Cash, Live at San Quentin or the awesome Columbia Box set John Prine, The Best of John Prine Waylon Jennings, Honky Tonk Heroes Robert Earl Keen, Walking Distance Lyle Lovett, Road to Ensenada Rolling Stones, Beggars Banquet The Byrds, Sweethearts of the Rodeo Gram Parsons, GP that is a good start. you might also check out: Merle Haggard Jerry Jeff Walker Buck Owens Dwight Yokum Son Volt Whiskeytown

What do you all think of Sylvia Hutton aka Sylvia as a country artist? I remember I had a hugh crush on her back in the day and I am just wondering if that isn't the reason I want to get her cd.
Country-pop rules. I really only have 2 country albums but I love them both. 1. Shania Twain - Come on Over 2. Dixie Chicks - Fly I will say with 95.7 switching formats to more Texas stuff I have started to like all the older, more classic stuff. I like quite a few Pat Green songs, a lot of songs that sound like they are by Pat Green, Alabama, and a lot of songs they play who I don't know who is singing. Also there are a few Bob Wills songs I like. So I'm pretty much into all country, but not being much of a CD buyer in general I can't make a bigger list.
Nomar, or anyone else, how do you find pat green songs on the internet? I only find George's Bar, Songs about Texas, and Texas on my mind on Aimster. Either that or music by "Project Pat"
Don't know if you've used KazaA before, but it has some Pat Green and is pretty handy. Its a little slow (compared to Napster) but the interface is basically the same. I've had less problems with it than with Aimster. KazaA.com
