I would do it for that contract expiring and getting there 1st round pick in 2016.

Could morey pull that off for the likes of Lawson,Brewer,T.jones, S.Dekker and a 2nd round pick... Salaries match, but is morey that good . probably not... Top 3 or 4 pick in draft would be cool to be next to Harden and Howard.

i have no doubt he'll shoot better if he wasnt playing heavy minutes
players dont forget to shoot but their shot will decline regardless
and this team doesnt need another one dimensional shooter. they need a 3d wing, preferably to backup ariza so he himself doesnt have to play heavy minutes
we got plenty of 1s and 2s. im fine with brewer backing up ariza but ariza cant be playing 35-40mpg cuz of defense. brewer needs to step in for that

still, i'd rather they trade jones and brewer and maybe kj or a 2nd for a 3d wing. i dont trust the shooters on this team for the whole season and playoffs.

Yes, because if Josh Smith was able to increase his 3 pt percentage dramatically in Houston it will automatically apply to any player we get.

JSmith was bought out, meaning he cost us nothing to acquire so if he plays like crap we can cut him no problem. JJ's contract is a max contract he is 34 years old how are you going to package enough players to afford him and where will the lost PT go? JJ can't play more than 20-30 mins at his age and how much of his "game" is based on reputation and how much is based on actual ability? The problem with you is you don't look at box scores at all, dude ages and gets worse every year but since you saw him light it up a couple of years ago apparently its worth trading for him even if he cost us 20M in salaries for the next two years.

This. We need more guys like Ariza, athletic defenders with a functional 3 pt shot. Someone like Batum or (healthy) Wilson Chandler would be ideal.

The only cost that matters to acquiring JJ would be the players it would take to match his contract. He has an expiring deal so how much he gets paid isn't relevant to anyone not named Les Alexander.

It would however require Morey to likely include Lawson, Brewer, and KJ, which at this point Johnson is not worth.

    CURRENT CONTRACT

He's a UFA after this season, BUT he will be 35 shortly after the conclusion of the NBA Finals this year. I would love to pick him up next year, but on a 2-3 year deal with years 2 or 3 being a team option. If he's smart he'll do a Gary Payton and find a contender so he can retire with a ring. That won't be us after this year, in my honest but regretful opinion.

I think Boston owns Brooklyns 2016 first totally unprotected. In fact I don't believe Brooklyn has squat for draft picks for the next few years. So toss that pick idea out the window.

I like how people keep saying 3+D wing or 3+D pg like it means a roleplayer. 3+D wing is the most depleted position in the league and it requires real assets to get one who can both really shoot and play defence. Kj, Brewer, Lawson are not real assets.

you're only focusing on the negative with our players

brewer is far from being a good bench player. still a scoring spark, thrives on transition game, cuts, and a capable defender. good guy to have for a team with a superstar.
his slwo start to the season is done. since nov 27 he's shooting about 45% and 35% from three with low to's.

kj is on a small contract mid term contract with some potential. can be used as filler and a good 3rd string option

jones is a backup forced to play starter minutes for this team and his numbers are good in that setting.
now he has a developing 3pt shot he's working on
young, athletic, cap friendly contract. he's a perfect backup big.

dont get me started on lawson.
i dunon if there's a team in the league that doesnt have a starting or backup 3d wing. there's a lot of them.
if we cant ge ta starter quality one then someone to counter ariza's weakness. less d, more three.
