at Seattle... SEATTLE -- The Seattle SuperSonics signed guard Antonio Daniels on Saturday to a multiyear contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. "We're very excited that a player of Antonio's caliber has decided to join the Sonics,'' said general manager Rick Sund. "He's a very efficient player who will add veteran leadership and depth to our backcourt. He can play both ends of the floor and, having been a member of an NBA Championship team, brings a tremendous level of experience with him to Seattle." The 28-year-old Daniels played for the Portland Trailblazers last season, where he played 67 games and averaged 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists. In 417 career NBA games, Daniels, a member of the 1998-99 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, has averaged 7.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 21.3 minutes. The 6-foot-4 guard was originally drafted by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft from Bowling Green State University, where he averaged 16.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists in four years. He was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and a John Wooden All-American Team finalist as a senior.
