Well I like him becasue he was born on the same day as me and the same year. Maybe hes my long loss twin.
Anybody have any clue how GS scouts their picks? A lot of people consider Morey a wizard for finding Landry and Brooks, but the warriors have made pretty good picks as well the past years...Brendan Wright, Monta Ellis and Biedrins to name a few. They seem especially talented at finding guards with potential-Kelenna Azubuike, Ellis and now Anthony Morris are all taken from the lower rounds or undrafted and became really solid players. On the other hand we seem to have the opposite problem-after all we let Azubuike go to sign Kirk Snyder lol
It's Don Nelson giving his rookies PT in a dozen games into the season to instill confidence and get them experience. He's done the same thing with almost all the young kids in GS, including Azubuike last year. I think it pays off and gives them motivation. He's good at getting young talent a head start unlike some coaches (*cough* JVG *cough*) whom because of their stigma, stagnate the growth of young players.
So they just started going to him again...11 points on 4/5 shooting (3/3 for threes) midway through the 2nd. Let's see if he can keep it going...
He's out of his mind. Like the announcer said, he will come back to Earth, but watching him right now is beautiful. It is so much fun to watch Warriors home games when they are close or winning.
Impressive stuff but it's partially a product of Nelson's system. You know he wouldn't be able to get off like this playing in SA or Houston.
Name 1 young player that JVG stagnated. Luther Head? V-Span? Novak? Oh yea, he did have that Yao guy starting his 2nd year.... I wonder what ever happened to him?
The kid plays for a team where he can shoot at will and doesn't have to worry too much about playing defense. He wouldn't likely go off like this playing for the Celtics, Rockets or Spurs. Expending energy on defense is part of winning. I'm not saying it's unimpressive just that he plays for Nelson. It's probably not a coincidence that guys like Matt Barnes, Azubuike and now Morrow suddenly put up ridiculous offensive stats when they play for Nelson, i.e., only play offense.
He is shooting well, no doubt. I'm just saying it is likely at least partially due to the system he plays in. A lot of unknown commodities have suddenly put up big numbers under Nelson in recent years.
I watched him a lot at GT. He was a good player, but his game was completely dependent upon his jumpshot. He was very one dimensional. I'm suprised he even made a roster, though I am glad to see him succeeding.
