I am totally amazed that the driver that listened to ALL the officer's directives didn't get shot. Crazy concept. Listen to officers directives and you don't risk being shot(except for the one guy that reached for the wallet in his car a few months back)

    Darwin awards right here.

COp did no wrong here. The guy could have pulled a gun and cop could have been down. He just did his job

    Kudos

The party of ignorance is the Republicans, hands down. I'm sorry that Fox has convinced you otherwise, but your ignorance of the facts doesn't make them any less factual.

This video is a perfect illustration of why police officers should have both dash and body cameras on at all times. The video clearly shows the officer giving multiple warnings to a man who had a gun in reach when the police approached the car.

More body cameras, make them ubiquitous. Body cameras would give even more evidence that the passenger wasn't following directions.

Are there any cameras that can reasonably be attached to firearms?

    Interesting video. A few observations..

    1) the patrol unit is parked way too close to the suspect video.

    2) I wonder if when running the plate prior to the violator contact if it was alerted as a dangerous vehicle (I say this because he seemed to already have his guard up when making contact) or it could have a person who the officers were familiar with.

    3) the cross fire situation scares me, personally I would have told my partner to take a step back (or yelled "watch your crossfire" which my partner would have known to mean to reposition himself)

    4) I wouldn't have reached in to take the gun while mine was drawn. That leaves 1 hand on your gun and takes your focus off the suspect.

Overall, I am not criticizing how they handled it BC in a high stress situation you do what makes yourself feel safe and in the end no good guys were hurt.

Righteous shooting, don't expect much controversy to come from it. Rocket River and his cronies can lay in the streets of that's their prerogative, but if have a feeling it will fall on deaf ears.

Since you qualified this with 'reasonably' I assume the answer is no. While it may be relatively simple to mount a camera on a pistol, it would seem to make it awkward to holster and draw in the heat of the moment.

Right, but would this impede an officer's ability to quickly draw, aim and use his gun in the heat of the moment?

Well of course not, the shooter was black....pretty hard to spin it into a case of racism, thus no ignorant outrage.

I carry a Glock 22 with a streamlight in a comp tac holster. There are plenty of holsters that allow for tac lights and quick draw. They'll never be as smooth as a straight draw though

I too carry the same duty weapon with a SafariLand holster made for my TacLight, however the department couldn't reasonably tell me to carry that camera in replace of my light, especially as an officer who primarily works at night.

Unless they came out with a camera which is also a comparable flashlight then I would consider.

So you're saying that you might try to spin it as if the one white cop was racist and "out to kill black people" later on? Bold strategy, we'll see how it pays off for you.

Also, I never bat with ethics, morals sometimes, but never ethics.

would a taser have done the job? Or is this passenger a super human and can fight through thousands of volts of electricity and grab the gun and then kill the cop?

and if look at this report, apparently 68.6% of suspercts continued to resist after getting Tasered.

    Just stop it.

No, a taser would not do the job.
