if he can emulate what kobe does, 81 pts, 3 50+ pts in a row... then yes. but there's no what if in this world. either you get it done or you don't. you think Redd's capable of scoring 81 pts but decide not to do it???
Umm, I'm not too sure what exactly you've been smoking, but I don't know how anyone can dispute the statement that he will end his career as an all-time great. He's the second best shooting guard of all-time as it stands.
This is what gives Kobe issues... Trying to compare him to the all time greats. Once Kobe can simply distinguish himself from his peers as far as results (with his own team) or individual statistics (birdies of efficiancy) we can talk. Jordan was top 3 (in a generation of Bird's Magics Barkleys' Dream, Malone etc.) 9 times in his career in Birdies and efficiancy as a player. Kobe has YET to break the top 3. Not once. Again, not ONCE! The players that HAVE done it MORE often than any other players in history involve: Wilt Jabbar Russell M. Malone Jordan West Magic Bird Shaq Duncan You would be hard pressed to figure any of these guys out of the top 10 players (Moses Malone MAYBE) of all time. The point of course... is that these guys CONSISTENTLY outplayed their peers. And thats the only realistic comparison one can do. If we are going to argue that Kobe even approaches the Jordan, Magic, Bird territory then we MUST sumise that KG, Duncan etc. have ALL surpussed those players
Every player's sole objective is not to see how many points they can put up. I'll still take Drexler, who led his team to the Finals twice. Bryant needs to at least win a playoff series.
I would like to know if any of those guys would make the playoffs with the crap teammates that Kobe has.
Kobe won three titles, Kobe was extremely important to the Lakers. Remember when Kobe took over in OT of the 2000 finals against the Pacers?
Funny how Shaq won all those finals MVP's isn't it? I guess this guy has been getting snuffed all of his career huh
I find in it funny that after so many seasons in which Tmac was a great scorer and Kobe had to the big man and won, the roles seem totally reversed. Kobe is putting up 60 to barely beat the worst team in the league, while Tmac has the Rockets coasting into the playoffs. I think this Kobe streak is a great individual acomplishment, and did his team need it, but as a Rockets fan Im happy with Tmac getting 20 somthing points, 8 assits and the Rockets closing in on homecourt advantage and 20 games over .500. Funny how things change.
I never said Kobe was more important than Shaq. It's probably in the 65-35 range, not 80-20 like other people seem to think.
Wow, 42 pts with 3:42 left in the 3rd. This guy is unreal right now, even though he is selfish as far as taking shots, I don't think anyone else in the NBA can do what he's doing right now.
