I like when threads pop up for a show that isn't gonna require waiting 8 months for release. Can't wait to give this a shot in a few hours.

Watched the intro 'Movie' (it's 70 minutes long). This is a reboot, and it's very well done. Good writing, good humor. It's aimed towards kids but gives old-school fans a nod here and there. Art and animation are top notch and Anime style.

They wrote Sven out of the show and replaced him with a guy named Shiro.

My 10-year-old son and his friends loved it, my wife and I loved it. I have hopes that it will stick around longer than the Thundercats reboot did since it's on Netflix.

From the trailers it looks pretty cool. I loved this show when I was a kid, as a matter of fact it was one of the things I would get grounded from, I wasn't allowed to watch it, lol. However, I'm not a fan of the anime style, I will still watch it, I just wish they would have found a different animation style.

When they showed the teaser and it was a CGI Voltron I was pretty bummed out. Didn't realize until a couple days ago this was from the same animaters and producers of Avatar and Legend of Kora. I'm excited.

American action cartoons are dead and it sucks. Hopefully if this does well Netflix will do more cartoons.

Shiro(gane) is Sven. Sven was the name given to Shirogane in the translation from Go Lion to Voltron. During that time, American producers knew it would be much easier digest characters with American names versus their original Japanese names.

I wonder how many people named "Sven" there are in the U.S.

I thought it was quite similiar to the Valerian & Laureline cartoon.

This! I purchased the entire series on Dvd about two years ago and had my boys watch it. They loved it, I even bought an original voltron on eBay for them. We just watched this new series and although we enjoyed it not having Keith pilot the black lion and be the leader kinda took some wind out of it.

Loved Voltron when I was a kid too. Question, this new series, does each episode have a stand alone plot like the old cartoon or is this more of a series plot ?

More serialized. You only get Voltron twice in the first 7 episodes.

I knew it was coming. I didn't want to turn this thread into a Power Rangers/Voltron debate..

However, I have no Idea why fans of Voltron hate Power Rangers, It's the same thing!

In Japan Power Rangers (Super Sentai) predates Voltron. Voltron is a knock-off of Power Rangers..

Have no Idea why there is more of a fondness for Voltron and not Power Rangers.
