Should be in, but I don’t think they’ll vote him in this year

I really need someone to help me understand how dudes like Torry Holt and Steve Smith get more run for the HOF than Andre Johnson. I'm even on the fence about Reggie Wayne being better, but I'll give that one up simply because he had Peyton throwing to him. It's such a goddamned shame the Texans never had a QB that could figure out how to get Andre the ball in the end zone, because then he would have been a no-brainer first ballot HOFer.

    Wayne isn’t better than Dre.

They discount what Johnson did due to the explosion of offense during the era and the fact that he was never much of a TD threat and he always played on bad teams. Also, while it's easy to blame Andre Johnson's lack of TD's on Texans QB's....not even Andrew Luck could change that for him. He was just more of a between the 20's type receiver.

I think he should be a first ballot HOFer, but I understand the reason why others aren't quite so high on him.

Let me tell you a fun stat about Andre Johnson.
In receiving yards per game, he was ranked:
    2007 1st in NFL
    2008 2nd
    2009 1st
    2010 1st
    2012 2nd

Finished 1st or 2nd 5 of six years in his prime

Calvin Johnson only ever finished 1st or 2nd three times in his career....after that his best finish was 7th. So not like he was 3rd another 4 times.

Calvin Johnson got rewarded for three superhuman years. Andre had five.
Reggie Wayne only finished in top two once.
    Torrey Holt twice
    Steve Smith twice
    Marvin Harrison four times
    Larry Fitzgerald....never

Very overlooked from a national standpoint. Dont know if he has the votes to get this year tbh.

I'll say this, no receiver would have as many TD's if they had Arian Foster to walk it in. Those Foster years probably robbed him of 12 to 15 touchdowns at least. I dare a MFr try and tell me he wouldn't have won those corner end zone jump balls if they would have thrown them. 12 to 15 extra would put him top 20. That's just maybe 2 extra TD's a year during Foster years.

I respectfully disagree, it was the Kubiak offense that kept him out of endzone also. Demaryius Thomas averaged around 12 TD's 3 years prior to Kubiak and his offense coming in. It dropped to 6 after and that includes the superbowl year. Andre Johnson not having as many TD's had NOTHING to do with skill or talent. It was bad QB's, Foster's dominance and an offensive scheme that didn't utilize him in red zone.

I agree Dre deserves to be in the HoF but probably not this year.

I think every hall of fame should be like basketballs, keeping Steve Smith, Reggie Wayne, Andre out feels so unnecessary.

Both RB's and tight ends vultured TD's away
    - 2011, all TE's had total 10 TD's. Andre on pace for 4 TD's (missed 9 games)
    - 2012, all TE's had 12 total TD's. Andre 4 TD's.
The great Joel Dreesen had 6 TD's
    - Oddly in Andre's last 2 unmotivated busted years in league, he had 6 TD's on 50 catches. More TD chances heading to the rocking chair, 10 TD's per 83 catches. Right where he should have always been
