Interesting reads from nbadraft: Weaknesses: Drummond wasn't featured on the block that much as a freshman, and his post-game remains raw and unsure ... Hasn't mastered any go-to post moves, as the ones he converts are usually awkward and off-balance ... Haven't really seen a one-handed hook that most big men develop first, and seems to shoot with both hands on the ball all too often ... The majority of his points come from the creativity of others, instead making them happen himself ... If his playmakers are shut down, it's possible Drummond will disappear through stretches, or even games ... Only attempted 2.6 free throws per game, and shot an appalling 29% from the line... Not much range on jumper with a low release right in front of his face ... Maturity issues, level of commitment and the need for vast offensive development could be a cause for concern from GMs not looking to take a chance in the top 3-5 ... Weaknesses: Cousins' lack of maturity and mental focus is evident in his negative body language and lack of composure ... He tends to lose his head, looking disinterested or frustrated if things don't go his way. Also does not appear receptive to coaching, tuning out his coaches when they attempt to give him advice on the bench ... The big question is whether it's merely a lack of maturity due to age or something deeper ... To his credit he made it through the entire season without any suspensions or ejections. However, there were a few times (flagrant fouls) where he may have deserved to be ... Free throw shooting, while showing solid form, goes through bouts of inconsistency due to lack of focus.(appears to decrease as games progress) ... Occasionally forces the issue when its not there, and tries things that are out of his range ... His lateral movement could be a liability when guarding more agile players that can put the ball on the floor ... He lacks explosiveness, sometimes looking like he has weights on his feet, which could hurt him offensively as well as when facing up against more versatile big men in the NBA ... Lack of great explosiveness also decreases his shot blocking to some extent ... Tends to not hustle back on defense and disappear when his head is not in it ... Weight could be an issue if he does not learn to become disciplined about diet and off court habits ... Will basketball be his primary focus, or living life in the fast lane that accompanies it?
just to set the record straight we also got a 1st rounder from Memphis in that deal. that was later parlayed into the Motiejunas deal. blame Morey
how can you blame a bust for being a bust Its not like he expected to be any good then you saying we shouldnt draft Drummond because of Thabeet, lol what kinda logic is that. If thats the case we shouldnt even touch Zeller( who i love btw) or Meyers Leonard because of Darko I have said i preferred Tyler Zeller and Perry Jones for the longest, but if Drummond were available you have to take him. Its gonna take time, because he is young and raw, but i see some Bynum type potential with him, also we have great coaches like McHale and possibly maybe Hakeem working with him His first year, just put an emphasis on trying to block shots, rebound, and play defense, we can worry about his scoring later
Drummond will never be a bust like Kwame or Thabeet. He has really good hands and great athleticism. Worse case scenario, he is DeAndre Jordan.
Lol at Sullinger at 6 over Drummond. Don't let what you irrationally wish to happen cloud your logic. Even if the Rockets did want Sullinger, they would move back from 6.
Yeah, cause no guys have ever played "worse" than Thabeet in college and ended up being more productive than him in the pros................................................................................
The correct way to view the trade was the Rockets got a 1st rounder and Thabust was the throw-in salary they had to absorb. Thabust was not the main focus of that trade. The question is was his salary worth absorbing to get the pick.
Warriors passing on Drummond. http://www.csnbayarea.com/basketbal...t-drafting-Andre-D?blockID=731864&feedID=5986
If so, we may be able to get Drummond at #8 in a trade for Lowry. That would allow us either use #5 on someone else (MKG, Barnes) or save the assets from potential Sacramento trade.
You are not functioning with all the available information. Drummond is still 18 years old. The guy, as measured at the combine, has the quickness, lateral movement and speed to keep up with point guards. In a 7' (in shoes) 275 pound body. He played on a dysfunctional U-Conn team. His scoring was completely opportunistic because U-Conn did not run any plays for him. Best athletic center in the draft since Howard. Far ahead of Cousins athletically. Functional, well formed 10 - 12 foot jump shot. 18 years old.
Ummmm....I don't think you understood my post. I was saying that you can't draw comparison to Thabeet and Drummond. I am pro-Drummond.
