To clarify, they grossed $400 billion in revenue's and $155 billion in PROFITS. Pretty stupid to brag about paying ..$1.7 billion in tax on this. Middle class folk need to wisen up and get strict on corporate tax.,. If they don't like it, some other online carrier will pick up the slack and the monopoly will loosen up a bit. Take it from Bezos directly if you have to, erase debt and get a little fiscally responsible before deflation crushes large groups of people (and yes, that includes many of us here)
One thing Amazon isn’t Is stupid this ain’t some vegan dog food company that was created by art history dropouts Bezos is like Bobby Brown in his prime
How about Jeff Bezos vs the American tax payers who allow Bezos to make his wealth off the backs of public k-12 education and public universities that help create the engineers that develop his products, public infrastructure like roads, bridges, ATC etc that allow his delivery services and public research and development that did things like develop the modern tcp/ip packet switching protocol that is the backbone of the modern internet that is the only reason why his business model exists in the first place or how about medicaid and social security that allows Bezos to have a larger consumer market due to old people living longer due to these services? Jeff Bezos wouldn't be Jeff Bezos without tax revenue being spent on these things.
Yeah, anyone can build one of the worlds largest corporations as long as they are allowed to hire engineers who went to school and access to the Internet. I haven't done it because, umm ...
The point fled over your head. No one claims everyone can amass billions. The point is Bezos couldn't amass billions without the support of US tax payer services and infrastructure. How do you not get that? His entire ****ing business model is entirely dependent on a tax payer funded invention. His first millions are from his own labor and ingenuity. After that the billions are from the modern ease of accumulating wealth due to instant online trading and publicly traded companies where the people who hold the capital don't have to do any labor themselves and just hire the actual engineers that develop his product. Do you know the last time Bezos was involved in research and development? You think Bezos has any clue how to design drones? Bezos ingenuity was being the first to online retail in any signficant matter. That's his ingenuity. After that all his growth in wealth is off the backs of engineers and laborers. The point is, Amazon needs to pay their fair share. The share that allowed them to have this business model and operate it.
Just like anyone can do a dream shake against their little brother Doesn’t make them Hakeem Olajuwon @J.R. @Clutch
You guys forgot that the merchants adapted and sell their goods on Amazon and gained more customers all over the world maybe it’s you who needs to be taxed for being lazy
If you want to ride your horse to Woolworth’s and buy your ColecoVision and go back to your Amish farm I get it , it’s your choice that’s what it’s all about choice @Os Trigonum
Instead of blaming Amazon who are following the rules, why not get strict on the senators like warren that write the rules. She says the problem is loopholes in the legis, y did she let those loopholes get in in the first place. And instead of amending laws to close the loopholes to apply rules fairly, i.e. do her job, she wants to make new laws to target the most profitable companies? If this gets passed just watch amzn profits suddenly shrink - they will go back to reinvesting everything into their biz (like they did for most of the company's history) instead of declaring any profits and paying taxes like they've been doing the last few years. Warren probably knows this, but is kicking up a fuss over this to get air time/profile. And if she really gets her bill passed, her beloved raytheon will probably somehow escape her new taxes. You're afraid of deflation? Market and cnbc has been hyperventilating over inflation for the last 2 months lol.
Where did u get this figure? Yahoo finance shows 2020 revenue at $386bn, net income was only $21bn. Gross profit was $94bn but you have to subtract operating costs after that, delivery/logistics costs $$$
The 2nd speaker in warrens own video even explains to her that amazon isnt doing anything unique with regards to taxes, everyone does it, but warrens take away isn't that there is a systemic problem that she and her colleagues have created, the "solution" is to target Amazon, even though she knows it won't work. All I see is a cynical politician that isn't really interested in closing loopholes and solving problems.
Then she should take it up with the other 99. Legislators voted for all of these tax credits and incentive programs that she's now calling loopholes. My larger point is this - if she institutes a flat tax on PROFITS, forward thinking companies will amazon will adjust and prioritize growth over profits even more extremely.
Warren isn't a fascist. She will bully pulpit for her tax law desires. That's the extent of her powers outside the one vote. And her rhetoric flies against the headwinds of systemic practices of the revolving door and campaign finance legal bribery.
I read somewhere that choice is a remnant of culturally imperialistic western thought. so that can't be good
