This is not unfortunate. It really is no big deal. Amare can't really help Dallas much at this stage of his career.

As I stated in another thread many a Mav has come into the team washed up and past his prime to produce for us so it is not that unlikely he can have a decent impact

I just don't like Amare cause he stole rookie of the year from Yao.

But in all fairness, he was beasting it that year.

But beasting it for a 10 win team isnt much.......it is the NBA even a bad team will score 80 points and it has to come from somewhere. Nobody really knows how he will do until he suits up in all honesty

It's a one year deal and it's just backup help. Not very good help but still there

He can play a backup PF Behind Dirk
Dirk can be back up C. & in the same time Amino can be the defensive SF.

That will make their 2nd unit as good as possible considering the limited options in the FA

This is good for the rockets. Dallas team chemistry will deteriorate.

I dont think anyone can say the Mavs are now worse with Amare instead of playing greg smith lol.....it may not make them champions but it is def an upgrade regardless.

He can't play in back-to-backs right?

Really not concerned about this pickup...

Amare looked good this season for the Knicks.

He still has a good faceup game and a nice midrange jumper.

As a rotation guy on the Mavs he might not be exposed too much defensively.

My comment was going to be along the lines of something involving a time a machine. So yeah, unless they can go back in time this team still isn't very good. I would still choose them as a first round matchup over any other playoff team in the West.

It's a bandaid for Tyson Chandler. Without Chandler the Mavs are BAD at defense and get murdered on the boards. They thought Greg Smith would show the flashes he did here in Houston but that failed.

Cuban sure does try to jump at Rocket prospects when he has a chance.

It's a low risk deal for the Mavs. No brainer, really. Kinda like Smith to the Rockets except that Smith is in his prime and Amare is breaking down about 5 years ago.

That said, Amare might actually be helped by playing with Rondo.

Wow people are really so down on Amare in the same way that everybody was screaming and jumping off the roof when the Mavs got Rondo LOL. Contrary to the popular opinion I think this is something that can really work out for the Mavs assuming Amare stays healthy. In fact I think Amare would be perfect for the Rox and I wish DM and co. chased and signed him instead. Amare may be a shell of his former self but considering his former self was one of the best finishers in the L he is still a pretty good player.

Sure defense would be bad but Amare is one of the best PNR players in the L because of his IQ and great hands, as long as he has someone else initiating the offense you can depend on Amare to finish the play, he has good bball IQ and will generally be in the right place at the right time to make something happen, and he even has a functioning J so he can provide spacing for the rest of the team.

TLDR: I think if TJones had a working J and isn't undersized he'd probably be Amare so IMHO Dallas got a major boost esp. since he strengthens Dallas' bench. It's too bad Dallas got him, I would have liked him as our backup C who will play beside Smith or DMo who can cover for his bad D. In fact if we got Amare I think we won't need another offensive player beside Harden anymore, I think Amare is just that good on finishing plays.
