I was curious and did some back of the envelope calculations to see how much the orbit would change we throw every single nuclear warhead worth of energy into the moon. Assuming circular orbits, 70,000 warheads in the world (peak warhead count), 2200 kton yield per warhead, and every single Joule of energy is converted to moon's orbital kinetic and potential energy. I got a change in radius of the moon's orbit by 0.65 cm I figured it would be small, but that's actually even smaller than I expected.
I wonder what is smaller, the change in orbit, the size of gohmert's brain, or the combined intelligence of the republicans that vote him into office?
Aside from the seeming ridiculousness of the suggestion, Republicans have made sure the budgets for the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management are too small to even afford to write the memo to explain to congress why they don't have enough money to change the moon's orbit.
Well, it's a real problem that she said she'd have to get back to him. People at agencies need to speak truth. It doesn't need to be: "You're an idiot, Representative Gohmert Pyle." It could just be: "If I'm understanding what you're saying, that would not be feasible, Mr. Gohmert, particularly for the Forest service but really for any agency. Even NASA would have a hard time moving a large asteroid, never mind the Moon."
I agree but some people are just not built for that, but there is no way she should have been that encouraging.
im still trying to parse his response to those who made fun of him. he seems to be saying that people were criticizing him over invoking black lives matter (BLM) and that is what the outrage is about...he even dropped a #fakenews.
hmm...could it be that he said "BLM" in the hearing so that the fake news would directly quote him and then he could attack them for saying that he was invoking black lives matter? the east texas machiavelli strikes again!
