What is the criteria? Barkles and Pippers were never noted for their Rox years, felt more like endless months in some ways. Where's Moses? OT? Rudy T? Calvin? Hakeem, Moses, Rudy JH13 & Calvin
5: Dream, Moses, Yao, Sampson, Dwight 4: Big E, Thorpe 3: Horry, Rudy T, Robert Reid 2: Harden, TMac, Drexler, Murphy, Newlin, Dunleavy 1: Cassell, Smith, Leavell bolded means their number has been retire by the Rockets. Hall of Famer Big E does not have his number retired by the Rockets. The Washington franchise has that honor.
Drexler, as a Rocket, was good. If you could put a younger Drexler in that lineup he would be as good if not better than Harden. But I agree that as a Rocket Drexler really doesn't make this all rocket team. Dream Otis Rudy Mcgrady Harden Pre '92 Drexler would make this squad over Rudy, obviously Moses could replace thorpe easily too. Just didn't want 2 centers.
Always bothers me when these lists come out and ppl put Hakeem as a PF, just so they can make a cooler looking dream team ... pun intended. Any coach who moves Hakeem out of the center position on defense or offense is a fool, especially on the defense and offense side of the ball. I'd let Ralph Sampson take the tip-off though.
C'mon now, Dream was a 5. What is this PF stuff? Dream is the automatic 5. James is an auto pick at the 1 or 2. And,what about Ralph? Now, Clyde, Ralph (the third best center and arguably the best PF), Barkley(whose body just wouldn't hold out, nevertheless had huge games at the end if his career)and the Big E only played for short stretches, so that would seemingly have to factor in somewhere. Moses is a 5....no getting around it. OT, not only helped us win a title...But, was an All star before that... 1st - 5- Dream 4- OT 3- Tracy 2- Clyde 1- Beard 2nd- 5 - Moses 4 - Ralph 3 - Rudy T 2- Black Magic 1 - Calvin 3rd- 5 - Ralph, Yao (It's not a knock on Yao, but we have our rich history of big men) 4 - Big Sexy 3 - Horry 2 - Mad Max 1 - John Lucas, SamIam Yeah, Calvin was ,more of an undersized 2, but....whatever. : ) And the Big E, as great as he was.... more Coog and Bullet than Rocket.
I wonder if Lakers fans artificially put Jabbar as PF next to Shaq/Wilt as center....just in an attempt to get all the best players on the team together....like we do with Dream.
Au contrair, Shaq would never have accommodated KAJ, Wilt or Russell. Hakeem and Moses would have made it work. Unbelievable, theyda been together. But, point taken.
