You are complaining about some guys having fun in an exhibition game?!? You had Karl Malone flashing freaking wrestling signs during the NBA Finals. Worry about that.

The OP wants the All-Star game to be played with playoff intensity.

ok the last minute was kinda hotdogging to the max, LBJ booed into that last dunk since he was embarrassed from missing the previous dunk

It was a blowout and up to that point the All-Star game was pretty boring. It needed that last minute of showboating.

Back in the day they really competed in the all star game and were playing for pride and bragging rights.....

over the last decade its gotten a bit more loose and less competitive

I agree. I think back in the 80s, guys like Bird actually wanted to WIN. Sure they do fun stuff too. But it got more serious down the stretch.

I guess back then, the East and the West are two very different basketball cultures and they wanted the bragging right of which side was better.

Now, nobody even care what the score is. I don't know about you. I have no interest whatsoever if the game has no competitiveness, no matter how much "fun" stuff is in it. I haven't watch the ASG for years now.

    Same here.

I think the league's oversaturated it with festivities making All Star weekend a bigger deal than it should be. It used to be about the actual game. Now its about the glitz & glam & seeing something new. When hardly anything new ever happens.

And lets be honest, it just wont compare to the Jordan & Magic/Bird years. The NBA was completely spoiled in those eras

And the game is too damn late now! Move it back to mid-day so there's time to watch the game then go to the bball court afterward and talk about it with your friends.

exactly what i'm talking about.

some have proposed an all american vs international idea before, which i think may be worth a try. imagine -

    yao
    gasol
    dirk
    manu
    parker

    vs

    dhoward
    amare
    lebron
    kobe
    cp3

    etc.

at least that's more interesting than we saw all the recent years.

I really don't get why people think All American vs. the International would be entertaining.

Lets just quit calling it a game because its NOT.

Next year it should be called the "NBA Allstar SHOW"

Living in Denton I had designs of going to next years "show". If last night is an example of what I'm going to see, I'll keep my money in my pocket.

    :(

They definitely need to bring in one on one and two on two round robin type games.

And seriously , doesn't the league ever listen or do any research. do something about the dunk contest. this year's was worse than the 94 one with baby miner, finley, antonio harvey , jamie watson!, tim perry! and tony dumas.

Take it from a Houstonian, for the local city, All-Star weekend is so much more than the game itself. It's a completely different experience than watching stuff on TV. I agree the game itself is nonsense but don't let that sour you on the other great activities for local fans.
