Alicia Vikander is great looking and has the acting chops but I think she is just too small and delicate looking to be a convincing action hero.

The person I think who is perfect for the role is Lauren Cohan from the Walking Dead

She is both easy on the eyes and handles gritty action scenes very well in The Walking Dead. She's also British too so no issues with accent.

She fits very well with the new grittier Lara Croft.

I like Alicia. Good actress. Very beautiful. But, thats the thing. She's too girly girl and fragile looking. I'd prefer someone more athletic looking.

I must be in a tiny little minority of people who didn't really care for Ex Machina.

Yeah, the sfx were amazing, yeah she was hot. And yes, both actors were fine.

    But the story... omg.

Think back to the Isaac Asimov days when he was formulating the first notions of artificial intelligence in robot form. Asimov saw from the very beginning, and almost everyone has followed suit (because it makes do much damn SENSE), that putting a potentially powerful and highly intelligent *thing*right in our midst without any kind of built-in safeguards would be purely STUPID.

So we are expected to believe that this brilliant-scientist/borderline-sadistic-psychopath Oscar Isaac would build model after model of AI-based robots, making them virtually indistinguishable from human beings, and would build in some kind of unbreakable safeguards?

Think of the 'Three Laws of Robotics' .. there's a reason that concept exists.

But we are asked to completely disregard decades of ingrained common sense and buy into the notion that this guy did all this, made these amazing advancements, but.. what.. FORGOT to make them incapable of harming a human being??

Nope, not buying it. It just doesn't make sense.

The writer needed to bake his ideas a little more I think. It COULD have been a great flick. As it is, it becomes the literal embodiment of a 'Deux Ex Machina' - an ending brought about as if by magic, or handed down by the Gods, arbitrary, not something which would make sense in any rational setting.

It was a shame too, because it could have been really really good, but the fact that the entire story hinges on something so implausible, even for science fiction.. just ruined the whole thing.

Vikander is beautiful. Maybe my second favorite behind Emma Watson who could also do the role.
