One of the great things about Horford is his flexibility of playing either C or PF. If we signed him, IMO our starting frontcourt would be Horford and Capela, with DMo (assuming we keep him as well) as the first big off the bench. Numbers only tell part of the story. A Horford/Capela frontcourt would be pretty good. Plus Horford has never in his career had any of the drama or giving up on his team the way that Dwight had.
Each player has benefits over the Heat players. Harden is the better shooter v. Wade. Horford is the better passer and defender v. Bosh Durant is a better shooter v. Lebron. I think you're in the right in saying that Miami's big three was better but I didn't say it was mirror image. I'm more alluding to this. Harden = DWade in the sense that Harden plays for the incumbent team. Horford = Bosh in the sense that we need him to commit first to have a real shot at the next player. Durant = LeBron in the sense that he is the big fish, the final piece to the puzzle.
I think he should be at PF, hes always said he doesn't like to play Center. maybe the Rockets pitch is for him to play PF and have Capela at Center. In atlanta he has to be the Center because Milsap is the Forward)
I'm excited about this announcement, but those people who see this as some kind of indication that the Rockets are suddenly going to be in the Durant conversation, I think you're reading way too much into it. Adding Horford still doesn't make the Rockets nearly as attractive as most of the other teams he plans to meet with. I'll just be thrilled if the Rockets can sign Horford. I don't see this as the minnow that helps them get the big fish. Horford IS the big fish.
You don't start Capela over DMo. If Horford came here the starting front court would be DMo and Horford with Capela as the first big off the bench. A Horford/Dmo front court would be pretty good in that both can shoot and both are plus defenders. Rebounding might be a problem, but you can make up for that in other areas.
You need to meet in order to get him no? If he says no then we move on to Conley or Whiteside or Batum or whomever. Man nothing is ok with you people. If we get a meeting with a good player we are wasting our time because we suck and nobody likes Harden and whatever other nonsense you people come up with. If we dont meet with the players we suck because whatever, there is no winning either way
Yes, good that you mentioned the AST/TO thing. Like I just mentioned above, the offense of the Hawks is completely different than the Rockets, they pass the balls a LOTS. And also they have more shooters and the overall quality of their shooters are much better than the Rockets. Dwight never will take any mid range or 3 pt shoots, most of his offense are down the post, you have much chance to create TOV or offensive foul when you are taking jumper rather than pounding the ball inside. So once you will consider these factors in, those numbers will make more sense, and when you will sub Horford into this team and the way this team will play under Harden, do you believe Horford will still have the similar amount of quality looks he got in ATL and his teammates will get him the similar amount of assists?
I like Horford, but due to his age, I would only sign him if its the only way to get another premiere player. I see the last two years of his contract as a significantly less effective player.
nope, everyone over reacts go much on this forum so you get comments like his. Meeting means nothing cause Melo met with multiple teams and ended back in NY.
I'm worried about rebounding with Horford at center. You know who would be perfect next to Horford? Kevin Love.
For those comparing Horford and Dwight's stats....please stop. Have you ever seen horford play? They have completely different skill sets. Horford can almost be a point-center at times...
You're judging the Rockets based on last year's roster and offensive gameplan. They're bringing in new players, a completely new staff and an offensive-minded coach who will actually bring structure to that side of the ball. So do I think Horford can thrive in this offense? Absolutely. And I think he fits D'Antoni's system a hell of a lot better than Dwight.
So what exactly D'Antoni's did to Melo and Kobe in his last 2 stops that convinced you to believe : "ABSOLUTELY"?
OKC knows it. That's why they're trying to get Horford now. They know if we land Horford, their chances drastically diminish. The media knows it too. That's why everyone is eerily silent on Houston. Patience.....A little bit of Faith and a little bit of Patience....
