Jaguars are irrelevant. And they just paid him like a top 7 CB. And he played his college ball at UCF.
I would have taken a million less per year to stay away from Bortels and the Jags franchise. The fact that he didn't proves it was all about the money and those guys usually see a huge drop off in production after their "contract year" breakthrough.
Why shouldnt he be all about the money? I mean NFL players career windows are so short that they should milk every penny out of it they can... And sure its easy for you to say you would turn down 5 million dollars until someone offers it to you.
Jags are going to bite people. This reminds me of how all my AL East buddies used to mock the Rays and Blue Jays as they kept amassing talent with the "they'll never be good" lines. And then one day it all came together.
Obviously we can't compare our normal careers with that of professional athletes but I would equate it to Work Life Balance that we all try to achieve in our own lives. For a pro athlete, Money Success Balance would be the equivalent. You want proof, look no further than Brock Lobster. He's filthy rich right now but also completely miserable. Reportedly he's telling folks coming to Houston was a mistake, that he should have stayed in Denver. So yea, I think that 5 million dollar difference over the life of the contract might be worth my sanity and happiness. But to each his own. I think Bouye will regress, Jags will still suck, and we'll draft a nice CB.
They have to get a competent QB. And it seems like they do decent in FA every offseason. But on paper, they should be able to have a really good defense. Maybe Coughlin helps somehow organizationally.
Supposedly we weren't even the second highest offer we were like third or forth so why should he choose to stay with us when we weren't even making competitive offers? And at the end of the day football players take enormous risk, every time they step on that field it could be there last time so I'm 100% for players getting every penny they can. Regardless of if you lose a few more games or not cause when your 50 and you have bad hips and bad knees I doubt your going to care much about that one time back in 2017 when you lost a few more games than the team you used to play for
They certainly have a lot of talent on paper - but they had most of it last year and it didn't translate. Might've fallen at Bradley's feet, we'll see. But it is a STACKED team on paper.
I love the guy! Wish he was still a Texan! Having said that...you're a Jag now? Eff you!!!!! My kid has been texting me all day talking about how he has to cover up the name on his Bouye shirt and will write over it in sharpie with the next player who wears 21 for the Texans.
