34? Let's be reasonable here. Not everyone is has a 24-inch euro waist.

A little known fact is that most planes flying on business flight routes have very under-utilized cargo holds. People rarely check bags on these routes, creating an abundance of very precious cargo space on the plane. There exists a tremendous amount of hidden value in these holds that can be realized by reassigning obese passengers to sit in these spacious holds. I would refer to this new seating section as the 2nd class cabin. A simple, common sense solution would require obese passengers to gate check a bean bag chair, which can be conveniently stowed in the cargo hold should the obese passenger's seat be designated for reassignment in the 2nd class cabin. Toss a few seat belt extenders and a large sack of Choice and Tapas snack boxes down there and all parties should be satisfied.

As former Continental chairman Gordon Bethune said years ago when fat people complained that seats in coach were too small, "They make seats for fat passengers. It's called first class."

Looking at the positive, it would make sleeping on the airplane seat easier if no one is next to you. Similar to sleeping on a park bench.

No coincidence that HFCS debuted in 1957 in America and was widespread a full decade later.

    Yup.

And what's so small about 166?

Unless you're 6'5 or built like jj watt

I'll gladly sit next to a fatty. If that fatty is Ashley Graham.

The insight that the Conquistador brings to the Hangout has never been matched -- I have to admit it.

And I agree with the OP that this bench thing is a turrible idea, (unless one is flying with a romantic partner, ref: percicles).

    That was a [premium post].

I guess it will depend on how much cheaper tickets are. People say they hate this kind of stuff then always buy the cheapest tickets

This is why I love southwest and their open seating. I once had a super large person sit next to me and there was no way I was going to stay sitting there the whole flight, so I poked my head up, looked back, and said "hey!!! Yea Ill come back there". I then walked to the very back and found a spot and sat down. Sitting next to someone who is basically pushing on you sucks so bad. Especially from here to Chicago.

Just thinking about myself. I'm average height 6 0, and when I weighed 165, junior year high school, I was way too skinny. Not sure what the ideal waist size is but I wore a 28 then. Would think a 31-32 was closer to average.

6'0 is taller than average though. 166 is normal bmi for someone who is like 5'8
