Moe, The question is now one of Pragmatism IMO - If she only making 600$ a month on her job she should Swallow some pride and get on the public teets If she quites the job - she will be able to get up to 320$ a week on unemployment [last I heard on it] She will be able to get food stamps and she will be able to continue her Education Unemployment can last up to 6 Months I beleive 1280$/Month > 600$/month+Pride Rocket River
she can come live with me, i live in a studio apartment and sleep on a queen size bed, she can have the right side
It doesn't sound like she's getting evicted. It sounds more like she's sharing an apartment with someone and they are possibly the primary on the lease. And now they're saying GTFO. She can probably just refuse to go and there would be a lot of drama but she'd be able to hang out for a bit more. Then again she might come back from work/home and her room mate has thrown all her crap out on the street.
3 people housed together, i doubt any of them has a 'lease', they're not under contract to live there, landlord can do w/e she/he wishes
Good suggestion, and I'm one that hates public assistance. But if it is out there, she should go this route, especially because it is only 6 months. She can easily find a place to live for the extra $680. Hell, Halfway decent place, probably.
So she could quit her current job and get on unemployment almost immediately? That would probably be ideal.
Tell your friend to rent a room from someone. I saw some thing on craigslist that had rooms to rent OR let her move in with you, I know FB would love that. But in reality if your friend has no money she's going to have to quit school and get a job that pays the bills.
great idea! I found the perfect place for your friend, close to no monthly fee http://houston.craigslist.org/roo/1088175129.html
If she quits by Texas law she cannot draw unemployment. But the other situation sounds like wrongful termination. She should apply for unemployment, get a state case worker, explain her situation and then they will have a hearing (at first it will be deposition) But she can possibly get her unemployment from the business that fired her.
She still has tenant rights. Yes, she can maybe be kicked out but she might get 30 days notice etc. I would ask someone really in the know.
Man I really feel for your friend, very tough times ahead. Hopefully it gets better, My g/f is somewhat in that situation in that she has no family and now she lives with me and my folks. Don't think this will be much help, but how is she doing?
I told her to look into getting a 30 day notice, and also filing for unemployment and maybe looking into the wrongful termination thing. She's also got a possible kidney infection right now, and of course no health insurance. ugh.
Wow, just keep her motivated man, try to be positive. What was the job she was fired from? Technicality?
