"@SportsCenter: UPDATE: Adrian Peterson's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, has released a statement on Peterson's behalf. pic.twitter.com/OSEb6zy1Xo" Wow!! Not sure what else to say.
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has been indicted in Montgomery County for reckless or negligent injury to a child. "I can confirm he's been indicted," said Rusty Hardin, Peterson's attorney, in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. Hardin later released the following statement: Adrian Peterson has been informed that he was indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas for Injury to a Child. The charged conduct involves using a switch to spank his son. This indictment follows Adrian's full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son. He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office released the following statement on Friday evening: On Thursday, September 11, 2014, a Montgomery County Grand Jury, “true billed”, Adrian Lewis Peterson on a charge of injury to a child. On today's date at 2:47 PM, a warrant was issued and entered for the arrest of Adrian Peterson for that charge. Since the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has referred the case to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, and the investigation has led to a, “true bill”, on a criminal offense, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will not discuss details in reference to the case or investigation. At the time of this release, Adrian Peterson is not in custody at the Montgomery County Jail and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office does not have any details in the arrest of Adrian Peterson. Peterson's team, the Vikings, released the following statement on Friday evening:The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian's attorney Rusty Hardin.
4 years old....damn, that's way over board. Side note: These are the last 2 names my coworker set for his team (he had Rice, and has Peterson). 1. Beats by Ray (Then the news broke about Rice) 2. PlayWithMyPeterson. Dude is jinxing his team.
Wow is this going to blow up the corporal punishment good or bad conversation in the national media. And how the hell can a Texan not know what a switch is?! I never got one it was always a belt or a hairbrush but my parents always told me the stories of cutting their own switch. When I worked at CPS in Arizona bruising was what constituted abuse otherwise spank away.

If the police report is true, AP may be looking at a full season or indefinite suspension. He went WAY past the point of discipline...
I dont agree with the excessive force which appears happened, but ya know what at least hes being a Dad and trying to teach them right from wrong. Yes discipline can be taken to far but I bet them chi'ren wont be out gang bangin and will be respectful.
That's pretty stupid. It doesn't matter if they did it to him as a kid or how common it is in the south.....A tree branch could easily cut or scrape the skin by just accidentally brushing against it, so of course it's likely to cut/scrape the skin if you beat someone with it. It's just common sense and AD doesn't seem to have it, or lost it at the moment. It would be disappointing if he didn't get at least a few games and counseling.
It's nice that he's not completely ignoring his road babies but I think the best thing would be cutting his beckys a check instead of trying to cram his brand of "fatherhood" into these brief offseason get togethers.
How the hell is maliciously punching your spouse is comparable to trying define what is overboard in child discipline? The intent behind the 2 incidents are totally different.
No, what the NFL is going to do is tell their players to NOT cross the line and break the law, as in Child Abuse. The NFL has every right to protect their brand and to discipline their players for jeopardizing their brand, and abusing a 4 year old child by hitting him with a switch on the hands, arms, buttocks, back and scrotum to the point that you've drawn blood and left bruising, to the point where you are being indicted by a Grand Jury in TEXAS is definitely crossing the line. Any company would seriously considering terminating/suspending an employee who is indicted on Child Abuse charges, especially one with these kinds of allegations. http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/exclusive-details-on-adrian-peterson-indictment-charges/ This isn't a guy who just spanked his kid or took a few swipes with a switch, this is a guy who went so far that he left blood and bruising on his 4 year old child.
