Heil is similar to the word hale or hail (not the ice) in english which means good healthy or healthy. I looked it up because the Swedish word for hello is hej, pronounced like hey which is also similar. It's basically just a greeting.

I found the story odd too. I mean, yes, they're dooming their children to a certain weirdness naming them Adolf Hitler in this country, and yes, it was weird when they couldn't get a cake with their name on it, even though in a way it made sense. I mean, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone" can go across the boards on types of business, the way I see it. But... The report I saw said there were NO signs of abuse of any kind, and the only reasoning I HAVE SEEN REPORTED, is that these children were indeed taken because of their names. Now, sure if you name your kids that, you probably do have other issues, but really, unless they were taken for specific OTHER reasons, I have to say that it's somewhat an outrage... again, unless there are more factual reasons they were taken that are more pertinent to parenting. Lastly, some of these hitler analogies are awfully lame. If hitler or binladen are your roommates, you have other issues than "who ate my food".
