Seriously who wants a job when you have your replacement (the guy who you know the management wants) looking over your shoulder?

Turner is a young guy who has been considered for many head coaching jobs in the past.

Well it's pretty clear that the Rockets are interviewing or plan on interviewing people who they aren't plan on hiring.

Now that this is out I don't blame Rick for leaving Houston.

Also there goes the theory that he left because he didn't want to be part of the rebuilding process. I'm not even sure management plans on rebuilding.

I don't know what to think when it comes to what direction this team is going.

DM was asking RA to place the team's interests ahead of his (RA) own! I wouldn't fault DM for doing that.

The mention of Finch as successor meant we wanted as much as possible to retain RA's offensive system since Finch had become used to it running it down at RGV while still being a developmental coach.

If we choose another person as head coach and Finch is not in the coaching staff, that means Rockets are willing to get away from that.

Rocket had the chance to listen to JVG and make Thibodeau head coach.
Rockets had chance to listen to RA and make Turner head coach.

Thibodeau just won coach of the year.

I guess Adelman is not willing to sacrifice like Carroll Dawson.

Dawson still wanted to have a job with Rockets.

He was retiring anyways. It seems like Adelman doesn't plan on retiring within the next 5 years so the comparison between Dawson and Adelman makes little sense.

I agree with Adelman's choice. He's got better things to do than to act as Coach Regent and groom a boy coach in his diapers.

I wonder if the person he's be asked to groom was someone without NBA experience. Like Brad Stevens.

Well I assume it would've been the guy from our D-League team...It just sucks for us because we have no clue which direction the team wants to go. We are still mediocre.

Disgraceful. Asking a HOF coach to fired one of his staff and mentor a successor.

Stop acting like a kid, Morey, you're in the big league. What coach would accept an order like that?

Oops. To quote a line from Bob Seeger's "Against the Wind": "I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then."

Plan B: Scramble to make the end result look like it was planned all along.

Famous end quote: "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

This seems to make the most sense to me. RA wanted the Rox to make Turner the next head coach. Dm and the FO wanted Turner to go through the entire selection process and be one of the candidates. Pretty bad phrasing and sentence construction on the article IMHO.

If true this is a huge slap in the face to Rick Adelman and his coaching staff. Daryl Morey can only dream to become as big as a basketball figure as Rick. If you had plans to make Sikma or Turner as a succesor it's another thing to bring your own guy and make one of the winningest coach became a tutor to guy wanting to take your job. No respect or loyalty shown here by Les or DM.

Wow - worse than I thought, clearly the org was just going through the motions and putting out an untennable situation for Adelman to avoid major fallout for running another hall of fame coach out.

    So far:

    Rudy
    JVG
    Adelman

All have been run out of town, awesome Les......maybe he is the new Drayton?

Every coaching change we have had has been for the better the last 3 decades.

    I trust the process.
