Really enjoyed when Wexler filled in one time this week for MT. Seemed like there was some actual sports talk going on for a bit. Sorry for those that had their morning comedy routine interrupted for a day.
I don't get Wexler's approach. He seems like he's annoyed with anyone and everyone at any given moment. Adam, we're giving you a raise - "WHY? I mean, what's the point? What made you even think that might be a good idea. Are you sure?"
I love that. It is even better on TV when he looks at someone like they are a moron with raised eyebrow. Dude is awesome.
Yeah, when Adam Wexler was paired up with Matt Jackson, that was the only time I felt like Wexler's whiny tendencies kind of balanced out. I liked that pairing. But I haven't liked Wexler with anyone else that I've heard.
Adam Wexler and Matt Jackson, when they were doing nights on 610 years ago, was the best I've ever heard local sports radio in Houston. Part of it was their particular mix of personalities, but I think some of it was also their day part, which allowed them to have more of a "fly by the seat of their pants" feel that they may not have been able to pull of in drive-time or midday.
Your worst nightmare must be a Charlie Pallilo/Adam Wexler morning show. I know that would probably make suicide and murder rates go up.
Caught myself having to switch to 610 from 790 this morning. Lance and Matt are cool sports personalities but I feel like Lance had to always be alpha and Matt is just a better radio personality. The result is just Lance seemingly trying to be funnier than Matt. So many times I just want some sports takes instead of impressions or banter.
Wasn't even funny the first time that they did it. It's strange how I was all in on their show and indifferent towards Clanton's new show, and now the roles have reversed. Maybe things will change once there's more sports to talk about. Idk, but they've just been too damn goofy as of late. They tell the type of jokes that you smile at so the joke teller doesn't feel embarrassed.
Lance seriously should get pushed to Kalu and Koch show. Since all those 3 only know football & that's it. Have you tried listening to them speak on other sports? Mispronouncing names, wrong stats.
Won't know if they get better... switched back to 610. I usually switch back for the 9am hour with hope that Lance has already left for the day...
For knowing absolutely nothing about non-football sports, Lance is a real know-it-all I much prefer MT and Ross by themselves, Lance takes away from the greatness that is Sport MT
New PGS is absolute garbage. I never knew I'd say this but it's worse than the old PGS Lance doesn't know anything about Sports but now he tries way too hard to dominate and take air time. It's all random talk. At least with AC he didn't have to try hard since AC was naturally playing 2nd fiddle Within the last week, I have heard entire sessions of these guys talking about Real Housewives of XXXXX, about going to gamble at casinos, about who will have the best boat party, about their kids, their wives etc THey don't talk much sport
Well, honestly, there isn't much to talk about right now. The Rockets are just depressing. The Astros haven't quite gotten going in spring training yet and we haven't even hit the combine in football. The Rockets hot mess is turning this part of the year into serious doldrums of sports radio.
I was genuinely excited when I heard about this pairing because I loved MT's show whenever I was able to listen during the middle of the day... but man, this has been a disaster. I have a 35-ish minute window in the car every morning. There will be some days where they will talk about sports for maybe 5 minutes of my entire drive. Their humor just doesn't click with me for whatever reason. Conversely, whenever I have enough and switch over to Nick and Lopez, they are always seemingly talking about whatever sports topic I want to hear about that day and I usually end up sticking with them. Definitely didn't see this coming.
Dumb thing to say. Lance talks about the Rockets a lot, and the Astros was the major topic this morning, and he talked perfectly well with Luhnow and the players. This notion that Lance 'knows absolutely nothing about non-football sports' is just plain stupid. Put it this way - he knows a hell of a lot more about all three major pro sports, as well as college sports, than any of the blow-hards coming in here in this thread complaining about him. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and that's all this is: opinions. However, that doesn't mean that some peoples' opinions aren't just plain stupid, and some of you guys' opinions are borderline 'chimpanzees-banging-on-keyboards' stupid.
