Downey Jr. actually went the other way and used a character to define his real life; he actually thinks he's Tony Stark now.

Other than the costume, how is he not?

And have you ever watched his older movies? I'm guessing you haven't...

For Realz. We have a vote for Robert Freaking DeNiro. yes, De Niro, one of the greatest most versatile actors I've ever seen. Al Pacino was mentioned for god's sake. From godfather to Any given sunday, how in the hell is he "the same"? Adam Sandler, really? Denzel? wuut? I love it when people have no idea what's going on but still feel the need to give their input to a thread with complete nonsense. What a joke.

Here's my contribution though: Ashton Kutcher. He plays a the role of a fagg falling in love in every chick flick there is. What a load of crap.

Yeah. First page was OK, last three pages just random crap - Mark Wahlberg, Sandra Bullock, Gary freaking Oldman, Nicolas Cage?

Hollywood typecasting, nothing new there. Thats been around since Hollywood was even first formed.

Sometimes its studios re-casting for the same roles of the same people over and over for budgetary and predictable return on investment reasons. Similar to athletics in a sense. Will you want to give Jeff Van Gundy a big budget with Van Gundy "casting" Luis Scola as a shooting guard and Aaron Brooks as a small forward? Then just because someone is versatile doesnt mean he's very good. Denzel playing himself might be better than Phillip Seymour Hoffman - for a movie's bottom line

Of course an actor can decline. But then there's those bad luck accounts of actors passing on juicy roles in epic films cuz they WERE trying to be versatile.

That was a sarcastic post

Anyway grandstanding aside, I'll go with Hugh Grant. Not that I follow him closely, but he always seems to be slightly aloof but sensitive guy who comes around. (Chick flick male lead 101)

You really don't get Adam Sandler? Let me break down the premise of 93.4% of his flicks. He plays a jerk lying to women to get in their pants until a special one, either a model or uber-hot actress, comes along and changes his personality. He falls in love, we find he is really a big sweetheart and wrestles with telling her the truth.

Oh and Rob Schneider will play some random foreigner.

And, IMO, the latter is much worse. It shows an inability to play a different role. Some people choose to play the same character because it's more lucrative but have taken on different roles and excelled.

I still think Morris wins...nothing but that "dude" in black romantic comedies.

He's the first person that popped in my head when i read the thread title,

Either he plays a mean gangster or a light hearted gangster depending on the film.
