Still traveling back, but it started outside apartments behind the parking lot and then ended up in middle of parking lot from what I have been able to see. Our street was blocked off all morning, but told it's open now. Just glad the wife and kid weren't home either.

Correct, the area of the active shooter was in Houston not West U. Here is info from west u mayor describing timeline: "I want to provide a summary and update on the shooting event that occurred this morning on a City of Houston neighborhood street, within a block of West University. West University police officers were the first on the scene (6:33 a.m.); arriving less than 2 minutes from receiving the 9-1-1 call. City personnel assessed the situation, neutralized the danger, provided medical aid and initiated our Code Red Alerts by 7:04 a.m. West University’s Fire Department was also the first EMS to respond (6:42 a.m.), setting up the medical staging area in the adjacent Randall’s shopping center parking lot. Of the nine people who were injured as a resulting of the shooting incident, West University Fire Department treated 3 individuals and transported one other to the hospital. While this event was extremely unfortunate, it demonstrates the effectiveness of the neighboring police departments working together through our mutual aid agreements. West University Responders were able to arrive first and immediately address the situation. After Houston Police Department arrived in force, incident command was ceded to the City of Houston. I, on behalf of myself and the City of West University Place, extend my sympathy to the individuals who were injured.
