AB is too fast to get AI calls. The eyes of the Refs, defenders, teammates, audience, fans, all could not even keep up with him.
And here it is... AI-1 was never projected to be a team's backup. Iverson would have never backed up Rafer. But...sometimes its just timing. If Brooks was already on the team and the Rockets got Rafer as a free agent this year, there's a chance itd be the other way around and he'd back up Brooks. For now he should stay a super sub.
Na.. too early to judge.. Aaron has a long way to go man. If he continues to play this way throughout the season, he can become the next Rondo. Brooks and Rondo are just too similar-- lightning fast and good finishers on the inside. Plus Brooks will own Rondo when it comes to shooting.. Keep your fingers crossed for a great season from the kid.
Brooks is more like Calvin Murphy. But I think he really does want to be an elite pg, and it will take him awhile to figure out how to do that.
c'mon now, season is still early. lets not over hype brooks and then when he has a bad game, everyone murders him. the only comparison i see is speed. brooks has a long way to become the next AI......and a lot of jumpers to shoot.
I know this is cliched But can you guys let Brooks be the next Brooks? What is this fascination with comparing bench role players to established superstars? You guys sound like agents going for a contract extension for your player. So is Landry the next Amare? rhetorical question
If Brooks can displace Alston in the lineup... Trading Alston could put the Rockets in good position to get under LT this season as well as next season. Artest mentioned he was worth $12-14M to a writer earlier this year. Rockets could then do that and still have enough to fill out the rest of the roster. Scenario: Alston to Indiana for Jack(expiring), Diener, McRoberts(expiring) Head to GSW for Hendrix, Watson(non-guaranteed), Morrow(non-guaranteed) 2008-09 Brooks, Jack, Diener McGrady, Barry, Francis Artest, Battier Scola, Landry, Hendrix, McRoberts Yao, Hayes, Dorsey 2009-10 Brooks, Diener McGrady, Barry Artest, Battier Scola, Landry, Hendrix Yao, Hayes, Dorsey
Remember when AB was selected for the select Team USA and Jason Kidd had high praise for him after that was over. Kidd is a HOF pg and I respect his opinion, I dont think we have a AI in our team but we have a very very good talent and he is starting to show a bit of promise. He will get his chance the rest is up to him. LETS GO AB!!!
AB the next AI? That's much to wild a statement. He will surely develop into a great player, and he definitely has many similarities to AI, but iverson didn't need development. He had it from the beginning.
His penetration is so good cuz nobody knows where he is gonna go. He can change the direction whenever he wants to. We need his "randomness".
Too early to say now. His defining factor is his ridiculous speed and not his scoring ability (like AI). Allen Iverson seems a bit more athletic as well. My hope is that he becomes like John Stockton, getting steals and dishing out dimes to the rest of the roster but still being able to get in the paint and work the perimeter if needed. The Rockets have struggled in the past with someone who can handily direct the offense without turning the ball over, and hopefully AB can do that while utilizing his quickness as an additional weapon.
Brooks is a lot lot faster than what people think. Devin Harris, Rondo, none of them have the quickness and first step that Brooks has. It is also this that allows Brooks to so easily draw help defender. He only needs to work on finding the open man and keeping his dribble, as well as play the passing role more, and he is just as good a starter as any other PG in this league.
Don't know about that..but the difference between last season and this season is he is a much better at driving in and shooting floaters or layups..so that adds to his confidence. SO with his ability to do that he has more confidence to run past through ANY defender because of his quickness and speed and score on them..even his jump shooting is great because of his added confidence and experience
