In the end it comes down to red vs blue though. You can ask why many southern whites don't support libertarians too or just people in general. That has nothing to do with being black or white or whatever, that's how our system works. It discourages voices from outside parties. But see, this thought that black people vote democratic for free stuff is what scares black people away from Republicans...this is something that they tout a lot. This is something that Fox News throws out a lot. Black people hear this and they take it as racism. Every little thing that Fox News and conservative outlets throw out there are heard. Being exiled for one's political views isn't really that prevalent from my experience. It's more like what is said rather than if you are a republican or not and I've never heard of someone being ostracized for being a black libertarian, ever. If you have an example then hey, I'm wrong. But if you are a black republican saying the same thing that black people just vote for free stuff then yes...guess what? Black people are still offended by it because it's not about race it's about what's being said. This isn't slavery because there is a choice. The choice that's being made is just one you don't agree with.
It's what the numbers say, no other racial group votes like that. Anyway, it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks about it. I just hope that at some point in the future people of all races will be free to think for themselves and that's not the case now.
Vote like what? Latinos and Asians have swapped over and the gap has been widening. Numbers don't say that black people vote democratic because of free stuff. They just say that they vote democratic. Before it used to be republican and this wasn't that long ago. What do you think changed?
Why? The majority of Blacks vote for democrat because that is their preference. Blacks don't vote republican because they don't prefer republicans. How is the above even debatable? Now tell me why whites mix their votes between the 2 partie, yet blacks are generally ALWAYS democrat. Why?
Did you read that? That stuff is very recent. If you are an older black person I doubt you are ever willing to vote for the party that wanted to deny you rights and worked against you. Some people will never forgive that or trust them there, because it's recent. Younger black Americans have to deal with some questionable rhetoric by conservative media powers like Fox News and Limbaugh and some more questionable criticisms or skepticism surrounding Obama. I mean a few quotes from some Republicans... I mean there is a long list of comments like these and not even just towards black people and you expect to get any of that vote?
And that's before we even get to the voter suppression tactics by the GOP. The reason African Americans are voting Democratic is pretty much in line with why both white supremacists and the klan vote Republican. If Republicans want votes from people who aren't white, then the party needs to excise white supremacy from its core. Trickle down didn't work out well for people of color in the '80s so don't bring the tax-cuts-for-the-rich policy to people of color now and expect them to eat it up. And, JayGoogle, you are engaging someone who doesn't want a sincere and truthful answer to their question. They are essentially trolling, at this point. The evidence they seek is all over the Southern Strategy and all across the internet. To boil this down to "Republicans are racists" is to cartoon your position.
For the same reason these people did what they did. If you don't understand that, then you get no more responses from me. Go back to watching FoxNews and believe what you want. Or crack a history book and learn.
This show exactly why you people are not getting the black vote-- and the Latino vote, and the Asian vote, and the Jewish vote, and the... Neither Donald Trump nor any of you people actually want to express condolences and none of you have any thought or prayers. Enjoy your economic anxiety.
Black people are elusive to the Republican establishment ..... They view them as some sort of static character from the movies. They insult their intelligence and deny the realities of the modern world and then suddenly decide to pander for votes by releasing what amount to offensive McDonalds "urban" commercials.
Not just the modern world, but history itself. You aren't gonna win the African American vote when the party is still fighting the Civil War (for the Confederacy) and denies the realities of institution of slavery and its effects on our society.
The reason why the vast majority of non-white voters are not with the Republicans is not because we agree with everything that the Democratic Party proposes or don't see the problems that are still happening to and within our communities under Democratic Presidents. The reason is that the Democratic Party is the one place where we feel welcome to participate in the political process and lobby for the changes that we want. The GOP is catering to the Breitbart crowd because it needs the Breitbart crowd's votes. Most of us non-white voters wouldn't be seen dead with the Breitbart people.
