I love the analogy JV, except for one thing:

Stalin showed the excesses of communism. I'm not sure I'm ready to say that Charles showed the excesses of DIT. [IMG]

I suppose, however, that an analogy could be drawn to Stalin's killing of 40,000,000 dissidents to the championship from the 6th seed in 1995 --- 'destroying all who disbelieve'.

Hmmmm, on second thought, perhaps that is inappropriate.

I was just sitting here telling my wife about this thread and the BBS's remarkable knowledge and analysis of the Russian revolution. She responded by mimicking the repetitive jerking of a tubular appendage from her pelvic area.

Mango: Are you saying that the Bering Sea was originally named for Beria (as in Beria Sea)? If so, I've never heard of that and I'm a little skeptical. There is something called the Bering Sea Fur-Seal Controversy of 1886, which implies to me that the name of the Bering Sea pre-dates Beria, though that is far from conclusive.
As for where this thread is heading, I don't know; I didn't think anyone was even going to respond.

Will, please send your wife my regards.

    Juan,

I got the impression that Mango meant they just pushed Beria out and replaced him with more info on the Bering Sea - meaning it was more important.

    Mango,

I vote for "Foundations of Socialism"

Followed by "Implementations of Socialist Theories, Actual and Theoretical"

Completed by "The Relevance of Socialism in the 21st Century"

We could then compile it all into a book entitled, "BBS Discussions of Socialism."

I get all the proceeds because it is my idea.

    JuanValdez,

    Rimbaud has the right idea.

When they needed to excise memories of Beria, they "painted" him out by inserting more coverage of the Bering Sea.

    rimbaud,

If we go on the "Foundations of Socialism", I have will have to work extra hard because I am at a disadvantage in that area.

That makes sense when you read what the sentence actually says. However, I had some alternate meaning in my head the first time I read it, and -- no matter how many times I reread it -- I couldn't get that one out. Thanks for jarring me out of brainlock.
