He's a 3 time DPOY for his ability to block and alter shots at the rim! He does you no good out to almost the 3 point guarding LMA jumpshots and getting caught on switches in PNRs with Lillard.

The Blazers would never guard Dmo with Lopez if Dwight is in the game.

Everyone opposed to Howard guarding LMA have been saying this for days, Portland will just run pick&pops when Aldridge is matched-up with our centers. I guess McHale had to experience it first hand...

 

I think having a strong slow guy like Asik defend LMA is wrong, LMA can just take his time with his jumpers knowing he can always get them off. Someone pesky needs to defend LMA to stop him from getting settled, to get him out of his rhythm, and the only guy on this team capable of doing that is DMO. It's not ideal, but it's the best thing we've got.
