Chandler Parsons might have an orgasmic death if he and the 4th pick gets traded to the Lakers. Douchebag player gets to live in a Douchebag town.

Smart GM's with lots of options... would smartly be ready to push execute on ANY of those options.

If it's looking like superteam might NOT happen in LA, they got a SHITTON of cap space. Might as well use it to get more assets

I understand the initial reasoning....but should we be starting a thread with @ch44 in the title? I got the impression he wanted to do things on the "down low." Keep a low profile. Just sayin.

It isn't going to happen.......... but this would be the perfect time for the Rockets to be rebuilding from the standpoint of where the league is at.

To make it clear I am not saying the Rockets should rebuild...... however, a team with some cap space and a few assets can do really well. Trade for Parsons, get draft picks to take on contracts like Anderson or Deng. Have an all star player available to dangle at teams like LA, HOU etc.

A team could really do some damage and rebuild quickly right now.

Came here to post exactly this.

The guy is by far the most discreet poster/insider. He is completely private and stays absolute low key.

I move to strike his name from title and OP

I'm never one to doubt the reputable insiders that we have on this board (cyber, cod, and doc). With that said I didn't know @ch44 has inside information. Not hating on him at all, but does he have a proven track record or reliability?

Yes he does, absolutely. He's been far more accurate than any other "insider" we have. He doesn't trade in the "rumors about every single player" stuff

Looking at the list of POTENTIAL free agents in 2020:

    http://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/2020/

It would make sense that the Lakers not only take on salaries that ends in the summer of 2020 *COUGHANDERSONCOUGH* but also stockpile draftpicks. They could be huge players if some of the 2nd year players decide to bypass signing an extension with their respective teams to head for LA

    Jaylen Brown
    Ben Simmons
    Dario Saric

Then you got vets that could be a FA that summer too:

    Kawhi Leonard
    Kyrie Irving
    Jimmy Butler
    Draymond Green

It's not a bad plan in my opinion...you either hit the jackpot on the picks you acquire or you hit the jackpot in free agency...or both.

So they would get Kawhi and then take on a bad contact? Why?

Pretty much how I read it. Sounds more like a contingency plan

perhaps they are just keeping all the options open or preparing for different scenarios

    Huh????

Rebuild when we were a game away from winning the title???? (I guarantee if CP3 was healthy we would have taken either Game 6 or 7)

    Nonsense

Let's say Lakers know they're not getting LeBron, and also don't want to get another big time free agent. They get Paul George. Think they can compete next season, or make a bigger push to the playoffs at least.

Jared Dudley + Tyson Chandler + 16th pick for the 25th pick. Lakers get the 16th pick and some old players on expirings. Suns get more cap space to go crazy. Just an idea.

2019 free agency rolls around. Luol Deng has one year left on his contract. Lakers have a bunch of kids. Paul George is already on board. Randle might be kept and re-signed this summer. This leaves the Lakers with some cap space potentially. Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler. Don't think it's enough with PG and one of these other guys but who knows.
