No YOU don't know what you're talking about and clearly you don't know anything about basketball. Therein lies the problem with this thinking. Two points that must be addressed. One, when you trade or waive players like ASSETS, you get don't get continuity like a San Antonio Spurs. You ever hear of team chemistry? If you keep chasing pipe dreams every summer, then you will always be in re-building mode. You can't build a championship if you're always looking for the future. Two, the philosophy of "treating players like assets" is a reputation that you don't want. Players here this, and don't want to play for an organization like that. Successful teams don't treat players like assets, they treat them like family.
