No. That said, I find it hard to believe there’s not someone out there lurking under-the-radar that can play passable defense and shoot 40% at the PG spot. MCW is basically a wasted roster spot. For a team that’s suffering from depth issues, this is unacceptable and an easy fix.
I am sure there is someone out there, but it isn't Pierre Jackson..... he would be an NBA reserve if his defense and decision making wasn't so bad. The reality is that the back up point guard spot will need to be filled via trade.
Jones would be a very good fit for a few reasons. His stats are not eye popping but he never turns the ball over and can really really push the tempo which is something that the Rockets have discussed doing. If the Rockets gear their bench towards pushing the tempo and getting easy shots, it allows the Rockets to have a more deliberate pace under Harden/Paul and still utilize three point shooters like Gordon and Ennis.
Justin Holiday are two rotation-level players that should be cheap to acquire. Both are young and on expiring deals. I don’t imagine CHI or MIN will ask the world for either. You could do much worse at backup PG and wing than these two
Tillman prefers avoiding luxury tax to winning. So he is only likely to make even a cheap signing after he has a trade lined up to dump some salary (like Chriss or Knight) for cheaper players.
Yea but the consensus here was Melo's a cancer, washed up & no longer able to contribute at about 14pts a game. On the flipside, DMo's praised around here by the same ppl who hate Melo. The problem is DMo WAS a cancer, left on bad terms & even trashed the organization when left. He's everything ppl claimed Melo was with less talent & worse stats
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/kings/nba-coach-blasts-fredette-jimmer-thinks-everybody-stupid Best case is giving him the keys to a bench unit with a set up PG, finishers and defenders so he can basically take whatever shots he wants with that unit and others can cover for his defense.
I don’t follow the D-League closely by any means, but there has to be a PG available that can give us 15 minutes of passable defense and three point shooting. DM is pretty good at recognizing underrated PG’s. Cutting MCW and giving someone new a shot at the backup point is something worth pursuing while we both wait to see what Knight can bring to the table, and also while we’re waiting to make a move via trade. I do agree the most likely avenue is via trade, though. Just saying, if we can find someone in the same boat as House we should jump at the opportunity.
