Wow, no he doesn't. They are two different players in a lot of areas so just no. Glad you brought him up though, the guys on Open Court talked about him being a great center and forgot to look him up. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2011, didn't even know that. Was he that good??
That's not happening either, Valanciunas tunnel visions and all his other skills are raw. His impact is much lower compared to Sabonis at his age. There's a lot to like about JV. I can't think of any other Lithuanian big man who played with so much energy / was so all over the place. Happy to have him. Once he adds skills, he has a chance to be a legit all star. But there's very little in common with Sabonis right now.
He was introduced mainly because of his international achievements, like Drazen Petrovic. But yes, he was pretty good once...
This reminds me of when Yao came to Houston, and someone started a thread suggesting Yao would set an NBA record for triple doubles because of his great passing. Turned out he had none.
Bingo. DMo will always have issues with defense and rebounding. And his post game lacks physicality. But every time I watch him he's playing hard and wants to win. When things are going badly he stays composed. Can't say the same about Bargs.
