Since rumor has it that baseball players will set a strike date today, I thought it might be prudent to show exactly what they are arguing over. Sports Illustrated published this article in their magazine two weeks ago and just released it on their website. It does a good job of explaining exactly wher the differences lie, and proposes a solution. I think the key difference is the luxury tax - I can't see the players ever agreeing to that. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_online/news/2002/08/09/make_a_deal/ Also, for those of you who get SI, read the most recent Steve Rushin artice - it very cleverly shows why he thinks Baseball has ceased to be "America's Game" and Football has taken over.
Thanks for the link, informative article. I just don't understand these guys. If I could play a game for my job and make a million a year I would never complain. They get the best medical money can buy and they are off at least 4 months of the year. (Nov-Feb) It is just sad. They wonder why people don't come to the games, because we don't want to pay greedy people.
