Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell is a must own album if you like classic 70s rock. This is my favorite song on that album.

for years i thought this was zep. i knew it was not on an album, but i thought maybe it was some unreleased outtake that rock stations loved to play.

    how about funkadelic?

He gets close on the drums for sure! Another one is Ram Jam that folks think is ZZ Top.

This is probably my least represented period of rock in my collection.

I'll probably get down into researching it some day, but I've just never had much interest in it. And the little interest I did have in it when I was younger has faded away over time.

That being said, I still like a lot from that period. Fleetwood, The Who, Creedence, Neil Young, Zeppelin, Cheap Trick, Queen, T. Rex, Bowie, etc. But these are pretty big bands that everyone knows about and are renowned today.

Can anyone recommend some 70s bands that made good, complete albums that are maybe not talked about much today?

For 70's rock check out HBO's Vinyl. Some really great song. A lot that I have never heard before, but still really good.

Just got home from a trip and I'm on 3 hours sleep in two days, so this is from the previous decade, 1968. Sorry! A cut by Mother Earth from Sleeping With the Animals, with Mike Bloomfield on lead guitar:
