Given all the talk about Lin being the 6MOY, I thought it make sense to make a thread to track Lin's progress against other potential 6MOY candidates. I used as an initial starting point this BR list but feel free to suggest anyone else who is applicable. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-top-2013-14-sixth-man-of-the-year-candidates After going through the list, the only two players that are in Jeremy's neighborhood today is Jamal Crawford and Isaiah Thomas. A couple of others are injured but might come up in conversation later (Ryan Anderson, JR Smith, etc). Jeremy is looking good - scoring is a little lower but definitely better all around game (steals, efficiency, blocks).
Rk Player Season Age G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% 2P 2PA 2P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 1 Jamal Crawford 2013-14 33 8 0 26.8 6.3 12.8 .490 2.6 5.6 .467 3.6 7.1 .509 1.5 2.0 .750 0.6 1.3 1.9 2.3 0.3 0.1 1.8 1.3 16.6 2 Jeremy Lin 2013-14 25 8 4 32.5 5.3 9.6 .545 1.3 2.8 .455 4.0 6.9 .582 4.4 5.6 .778 0.3 1.9 2.1 4.0 1.6 0.5 3.5 2.5 16.1 3 Isaiah Thomas 2013-14 24 6 0 27.5 5.8 12.3 .473 1.2 3.2 .368 4.7 9.2 .509 5.2 5.8 .886 0.8 1.3 2.2 4.5 0.7 0.0 2.5 2.2 18.0
http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&p1=linje01&y1=2014&p2=crawfja01&y2=2014&p3=thomais02&y3=2014#totals::none
I have a feeling Isaiah will replace Vasquez in the starting lineup pretty soon, he's pretty much the second best player on that team anyway and Vasquez isn't doing much of anything. Jordan Crawford is just filling in for Rondo right now so his stats are inflated. Same with Pachulia filling in for Larry Sanders. Tyreke Evans sucks in general. Happy to see Mook doing well though I think this is pretty much Lin's to lose, unless McHale decides to start him 1/2 way through the season. Which you never know
watch out, though. If he returns to the bench, then McHale might return Lin to the starting lineup. :grin:
Not sure what happened with Vasquez - dude used to fill up the stat-sheet like no other. Who's Jordan Crawford filling in for (Rondo still in Boston right)? I think he's just playing his role - he's in this conversation every year.
Would love for the big man to win it but it is tough for defensive stalwarts - whatever DRose says, at the end, it is all about the flash!
Wrong Crawford. We are talking about Jamal Crawford aka one of the many Rockets Killers on the Clippers with Reddick and Paul. On Jeremy, I think if he does end up coming off the bench for the rest of the season he will have a great chance to win. He does a lot more for the team than just score. Even though scoring is basically what they look at the most for 6th Man, unfortunately. But if he can keep those numbers or about the same and the Rockets are one of the top teams then there's not reason not to think he will be in the discussion. Again it's only been 8 games.
Yeah, I'd like to see him shoot 11 or 12 attempts a game, especially since he's shooting so well. Outside of yesterday's 17 and 13 at Utah, he's pretty much shooting around 7 or 8 a game.
Lolol funny how if someone said that last year, he would get flames as a LOF. Just a big testament to Lin's work on his shot and consistency as a player!
You have to take into account FTs though, because those are basically the result of FGA that Lin tried to score on.
Jamal Crawford has the green light as a true 6th man should. Jeremy Lin won't as long as Harden is here and/or McHale is coach.
Yeah, shows you how much the system matters. The guy was a genius at running the pnr. On the Kings, all they need is someone to score and feed Cousins. Nah I was replying to convo from the second post. That link had Mook and Jordan Crawford ranked as top bench players. Jamal Crawford further down.
