Agreed! Until you realize that the teams that actually matter have Jokic/Millsap, Harrell/Zubac, Davis/Howard and Gobert.
I'll play devil's advocate here..... Couldn't this stat also prove why it CAN work? How can we get demolished like that and were a missed layup under 10 seconds to go from victory? We were terrible, and yet still had it for the taking. Would can be outrebounded by significant margins and still win. So maybe focusing on other areas is actually more important
The system would work well if there is multiple lanky wing defenders on the court. Bruno and Carroll were brought here to fill those needs. It seemed like MDA was trying to force NYK to go small when put in that atrocious 4 guard lineup. Guards just don't have the same tenacity for boards that forwards and centers have. Tucker and Covington's backups should probably be Carroll and Bruno. A Covington/Bruno front line at times would aggravate teams. The tip passes /rebounds and block shots could give us a different look. Mike DanToni just might be our demise in the end..
Covington goes to the bench for BMac??????? Why? We needed more players. This was effort and short rotation bullshit. Rocket River
And yet we were in position to win it at the end. Which means it works. Just balance the rebound numbers game a little bit more in our favor.
Even though it sucks to lose, the silver lining is that we got killed on the boards, shot horribly, was down 21 at one point and still almost won... That’s pretty effing incredible...
One of the rare times we say an NBA team hits 18 three’s and lost. We hit 20 tonight. Team didn’t take the Knicks serious from the beginning.
Just to play devil's advocate, they still came one basket away from winning after having their rebound total nearly doubled by the other team. Never would've believed that was possible a couple months ago. Somehow, even -31 on rebounds compared to the Knicks, just a few adjustments here and there would've led to win. It's certainly a concern, but I guess my point is that the fact that they didn't get destroyed because of it means that decent extrapolation about their playoff performance is even less possible this year than ever before. We simply have no clue.
I don't understand how we nearly won that game. Harden and Westbrook didn't have great games. We were killed on the boards. And yet we lost by 2. I think it's still too early to judge this team
Here is the deal with small ball you have to hustle if you half step you will get killed on the boards.
Yep. We didn't play hard enough tonight. Overlooked a sh!tty team and they out-hustled us. We'll play hard in the playoffs.
The variance is a bit too high. Since the Knicks were really crashing the boards offensively. When we did secure a defensive rebound (from their miss), where was the transition fast break? It's Russ running but nobody else runs with him. If one of their forward and center stayed for the offensive boards, but the other three gets back, it's still a one on three. While Russ sometimes can score, lane was clogged and shots got blocked. Last few games the defensive energy got turned up, but is that affecting the legs on offensive end? Longer line up would have helped. Where was Bruno and DMC. Even if putting iHart and Thabo for limited minutes doesn't mean we're giving up small ball. Even if it is to confuse the opponent's a bit. Last couple weeks, Rockets have gotten lot of press (positive even). The scrubby teams are bring their A game, so they don't show up in Rocket's highlights next morning.
