That's fine, as long as you don't call him Magic. Magic at age 20, played Center in the 6th Game of the Finals, because Jabbar was sick. He went against 6-11, 250lb Darryl Dawkins, who was the first player to shatter backboards in the NBA. Everyone was thinking this was a gimme, and the Lakers would lose and it would go to a 7th game. No, Magic suited up as Center, and Nixon played PG. Magic scored 42 points that day, as a 20 yr old.,,playing Center against an agile brute force of a man.
He reminds me of Hakeem, honestly. He has talent that no other player, including Lebron, has. Hakeem was like this, a whole lot of talent and just getting better and better,
Even though it's the summer league....just based upon raw talent i can't believe he wasn't a top 5 pick.
Great talent in this kid, can hit the 3 ball and put the ball on the floor and draw fouls. Great pick up for the Bucks.
He was 6' 9" when he was drafted. Seemed like a tweener. Played against unproven talent. Had literally no national exposure until he had entered the draft. Was very skinny. He could have just as easily been Austin Daye 2.0, but he was a gamble that panned out. When Morey gambled on Marcus Morris it was not a good thing. I wouldn't say that NBA GMs are dumb, but that they didn't guess right.
If Giannis had agreed to spend a season in Europe last year instead of coming directly to the NBA, he would have been picked much higher. But when he said "no" to the idea, his draft stock dropped because teams felt he wasn't close to being ready.
I always give people crap about re-drafting a particular draft, especially when's it's only been one year... ...but Giannis is easily the #1 pick of 2013, if it was able to be redone.
