I believe that both are factors, and depending on the circumstance, one may be more at play than the other. Some situations are more about deviancy, some are more about control.
You understand consent is a continuum and not a one time check point right? You can consent to him taking his dick out, you can consent to him joking that he will jerk off, but it doesn't mean you actually want him to go passed three strokes and actually play with himself. The second those women felt like the situation wasn't right, they weren't actively consenting to it.
Weinstein and Louie allegedly leveraged their status to assault these people. Louie has delved into his feelings plenty of times regarding his Catholic upbringing. Masturbation is a shameful thing in that sect. It is almost always about childhood notions and misrepresentation of sexuality leading to confusion and shame. A "slippery slope" regarding consent should not work that way. We shouldn't be worried about if more women will start questioning where the line is. We should be worried about how many men have already stepped over that line.
I'm suggesting he knew exactly what measures his management would resort to in order to protect his brand. You think he was innocent to their action?
Important to note that what CK did is not assault. Socially inappropriate yes, criminal I'm not really sure.
By the way, i don't need to explicitly threaten a fellow to bully my point. I'm in power/favour...you're not. Deal with it. See how it works?
I have no idea. Why would you assume your manager would threaten people? That's even more illegal than what CK himself did.
So if you own a gun and say you are gonna kill someone you're a murderer? You consented 2/3 of the way to murder, it means you consent to the whole thing.
Not criminal, but not someone i'd even consider inviting/welcoming into my home. That alone turns me away from his 'genius'. Can do without him...you can keep him.
That's like Jay Leno denying he knew what Kushnick did behind the scenes. Those in the industry know it's a falsehood. In an image conscious industry, you know exactly how your team behaves.
That's fine but no one is claiming to have been threatened so I'm not sure why we're talking about it.
Unless you're a fool and CK is no fool...just a pathetic. Sorry Louis, you've never been able to satisfy a woman. Bottom line of your issue(s).
You're the one who qualified the claim. I'm suggesting that his manager (whom has a ton of power in the comedy game) may have threatened people (i.e. protecting his property/asset) without CK's knowledge or involvement.
I was responding to moes, whom assumed CK threatened these women. I posited a hypo in addition, in case I missed something re: threat claims.
