No, no one will think less of LeBron for joining the Rockets other than butthurt, jealous fans of other teams(and BTW, I totally sympathize with them) and a-holes in the media who hate the Rockets. Kevin Durant's p-ssy move of bolting OKC for Golden State changed everything. If you're not assembling a superteam, you may as well tank cuz you ain't winning jack squat for the foreseeable future. The only way LeBron coming to H-Town hurts his legacy is if he fails to win titles here. And it'll really take a beating if the Rockets do worse next year with LeBron(i.e. don't even push the Warriors to 7) than they did this season without him.

But the guy at this point is trying to establish himself as the greatest player in the history of the game. I can see only three ways to definitively put himself above MJ. More rings, playing at a high level for a longer period of time, and boosting his individual stats. For the first, I think joining a 65-win team that would've already beaten the Warriors with a healthy CP3 and a less corrupt officiating crew is a pretty good move. The Rockets would be the prohibitive favorites next year. Hell, they may not have double digit losses in the regular season. For the second, having Harden and CP3 to share the playmaking and ballhandling responsibilities will make life much easier for LeBron. His minutes would be reduced drastically and he could even take the occasional night off to keep himself fresh. For the third, playing fewer minutes and fewer games will extend his career which in turn will give him a shot long-term of reaching milestones like Kareem's all-time scoring record. Not to mention allow him more opportunities to win titles.

Assuming that's what motivates LeBron at this stage of his career, the only logical choices are the Rockets or Sixers.

He will also be criticized if he doesn't win a chip

He's not doing that in Cleveland, which he hates anyways, might as well be happy and winning in Houston.

This Rockets team is better than pre-Durant Warriors so yes it would be worse than what Durant did. The only reason they won 65 and Warriors 73 is injuries(Curry, Thompson, Green missed only 5 games combined that season) and luck. Warriors also lost 2 starters to get Durant.

Honestly he doesnt really need 6 rings (and at his age he would need to complete something like a 3 peat which is extremely rare in NBA history). If he joins one of the rising eastern teams and manages to beat this 4 all-stars Warriors team once, his legacy would be complete.

Regarding KD yes he pulled the weakest move but if the GOAT candidate pulls the second weakest move, it’s not going to look good regardless.

Maybe he will beat the Warriors this year and just settle the GOAT argument who knows lol. Then winning in Houston would be the cherry on top.

Assuming the Warriors crush the Cavs in the Finals, if we are really talking about his "legacy", he has to go somewhere he has a chance to win a couple more championships.

That's not the Lakers. Philly is too young. No one knows what he is thinking and we won't until he announces it, but if winning championships is what he is pursuing (to try to overtake Jordan as GOAT) I could only really see us or Boston

LeBron will be criticized no matter what he does. But, he's earned the right to do whatever he wants. After Durant went to the Warriors, that really opened the door for any player to go anywhere they want. The only way to beat a super team like the Warriors is to build another super team. You have to fight fire with fire.

The only problem is that the KD move made it so that players like Lebron have to pick between winning and getting paid. There is no team in the league that can give him both.

If LeBron comes here, it's by opting in and being traded. Which means he's making 35 mil next season. That's not winning AND getting paid?

Championships matter more than anything else in terms of legacy. He already went back to Cleveland and won a ring there, which is ridiculous. Now that KD made the most b**** move of any superstar ever and joined the Warriors, the only way to beat them is to assemble another crazy super team.

What is he suppose to do, just rot in Cleveland his last few years?

I think that will go through his head for sure, the potential critics. But at the end of the day, does he want to play his last five years with his best friend on a team that can give him 5 titles? I think yes

The chance of a 3-peat would definitely be reason to come here. He’d cement his place in history. No small task with teams like the warriors and Celtics in the next 3 year time window. But he’d definitely have a good shot here to do it and it not be a punk move.

lebron gets criticized regardless - but if he joined houston, it WOULD NOT BE THE SAME as Doo-rant joining the Warriors. not even close.

To me, the LeBron Rachel Nichols interview that was just done, has the signals from LeBron that he has "done everything he has set out to do in Cleveland and is at peace with what he did." He may not leave, but he is dropping hints that he has accomplished things and the franchise is in good shape. He is creating "the easy out" right now. Expect more of this. LeBron works the media like no other. The Narrative is in process.
