You have to getting seeds 4-5 ensures you play the Lakers in the 2nd round if you advance (barring some huge upset...lol) Getting the other seeds means you play...Well it makes your second round matchup easier. But no way around it, it's a difficult trip to the finals so makes no sense in trying to dodge one team or another, just get HC.

It's really easy to diss T-Mac but let's suppose the Rockets go on a 3-4 game slide...do you have any idea how clutch will respond? There was a great point brought up the other day. And that was that this team couldn't create for themselves, especially when the defense tighten. I wouldn't be surprised if teams purposely lose to try and land the Rockets in round 1, again. We don't need T-Mac to succeed in the regular season, and we don't need him to succeed in the playoffs, but we, I think, need a player like him.
Man for years I've been saying the same thing, but lets face the facts. Tmac is a LOSER, he doesn't win, won't ever win, can win, but doesn't care to win. I'm glad he is gone, I'd say last year we needed him to win. This year we TRULY have something special just because our defense is so good. With most teams having their best player as a 2 or a 3, and our best defensive wings can take them down, I am pretty confident (barring injury, or a bad 1st round matchup) that we can get out of the 1st round w/out Tmac. I hope we do too, just to stick it to him, make him feel like more of a loser.
number 2 seed should be our goal as it will guarantee not to see lakers until the western final. Doubt we would get to the number 1 seed, but number 2 is within reach. Our defense will beat anyone. just our offense are steaky at best
That's a really good point. So, i wonder; Which team is better, last year's or this? I think this year's team is far better- more athletic, 3 post players and all the players from last year know what RA wants. Hopefully that translates into more wins than '08. We shall see.
We were #1 in the West for a spell after beating the Lakers on the streak last year, if I remember correctly... and look how that worked out. I support the thread, but cautious optimism is in order here, to avoid massive cliff-diving and thread wars on the BBS if we drop back down a bit.
u realize getting the #2 seed could mean playing the suns in the playoffs? thats bad especially now that they're running more.
the suns are the last team in the West to worry about... the #2 or #3 seed is where we want to finish regardless of anyones else...

whoever thought we couldn't make the playoffs are fools. we made the playoffs last yr with way less talent. those fans probably thought the championship hopes are done, and rightfully so. playoffs, we'll make the playoffs.
If we keep winning, Rick Adelman deserves the coach of the year, but tonight game is the key. If we win this one, this team is going to be good enough to get the seed 2, 3, or 4.
