This is why I never make any certainty statements about a draft pick. Because honestly, no one can truly predict how draft picks develop. Especially not from people using internet scouting reports and youtube videos to make our judgements.
I agree, you can't judge a draft pick if you aren't in the video room, measuring him (from size to jumping ability) or watching practice. College games give you a glimpse, but playing against NBA guys is a different story because they are bigger and faster. I enjoyed this thread, right, or wrong, it is still a great read. I stopped making predictions on players when I raved about TWill (that I didn't know about his attitude) and Flynn (that I didn't know dribbles in circles).
i actually think you can make a pretty good guess based on what you can find online. Obviously, watching him in person and going more in depth is better, but one should have been able to make a good guess with Parsons. There was enough online to realize he wasn't a scrub and could make the team, at the very least. The real problem is there's too many people taking guesses that haven't really seen him enough or bothered to look further into this game.
