No, Wendy Davis is against the law that passed the Texas legislature, a law designed to get as many abortion clinics as possible closed. Why do you have to lie to try and make a point?
To safeguard women's health. The left is trying to make it into a wedge issue, but the bottom line is that women's health should be the top priority.
I agree, but that wasn't the goal of the legislation. The goal of the legislation was to close as many abortion clinics as possible.
Doctors say that the new regulations won't meaningfully add anything to the safety of women getting abortions and that they were created as a pretense to close as many clinics as possible.
here's the full text of the law; could you highlight the sections you find objectionable, and state the reasons why? http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Text.aspx?LegSess=832&Bill=HB2
The biggest ones are the requirement for the doctor to have admitting rights at a hospital and that the hospital must be within so many miles of the clinic. These regulations were written specifically because so few clinics met the requirements, which will result in them being closed.
why do you object to a physician having admitting privileges at a nearby hospital? if there's an emergency, shouldn't the woman's life be safeguarded?
Their life is completely safeguarded even if the abortion doc doesn't have admitting privileges. It isn't like a hospital is going to turn a patient away because the abortion doc didn't have admitting privileges. In addition, a great many of the clinics weren't within the required distance from ANY hospital, again, this law was a pretense to close as many clinics as possible.
The fact that you don't understand tells me that it would be fruitless to try and explain it. Tell you what, point out how the situation in Texas was in any way analogous to Lancaster just to prove to me that you're interested in substantive debate and after you do so, I will be happy to answer more of your questions.
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Only someone like bigpuffery would think that this thread indicates ownership OF me rather than BY me!
so, if i may paraphrase your position, Gosnell, as horrific as it was, has nothing to do with abortions provided elsewhere, and should not effect how, or whether, abortion providers are regulated in texas. is that accurate?
