The report, which includes a representative sample of approximately 4 million extracted URLs, shows that adult content on the Internet as well as illegal content such as child p*rnography and illegal drug purchase has undergone a significant increase of 17% in the first quarter of 2010, as compared to the same period in 2009. Additionally, Websites related to the online role-playing games (RPGs), such as World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto 4, have grown by more than 212% in the first three months of 2010. Websites that contain violence have grown by 10.8%, terrorism content by 8.5%, and illegal drugs purchase by 6.8% are continuing to grow. I think they are underestimating the number.
The internet is becoming . . . the REAL part of humanity. The part we have secretly hide from each other . . . behind the facade of civility and manners! <insert Evil Laughter> Rocket River
Ok so I knew p*rn dominated the internet. But 6% are websites to buy illegal drugs? Who in their right mind would by illegal drugs over the internet? I mean, I guess it would be cool to order an eighth of some good off a website but c'mon, you're asking to go to jail.
37% based upon size or actual webpages? My guess is the bandwidth used by the size of the pr0n files. I bet a large amount is also used by downloading non pr0n movies and just counted as pr0n since it is blackmarket.
I'm pretty sure its web pages because it says "websites that contain or are related to..." Plus it says right in the article that "p*rn makes up 37% of the web pages online". Not to mention that I don't think you can download illegal drugs.
The number of illegal drug-related websites has increased by 6.8% since the last time this data was collected... it doesn't account for 6% of the internet.
Well if you taken women out of the equation, and assume female surfing habits are the opposite of men, then p*rn could be double (74%) of the internet, which sounds about right.
