Small sample size Undefeated (no negative team values against plus/minus) Weak schedule Flawed statistic Still, it is good news, and if that trend continues, it means that the Rockets are winning games. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nba/stats/individual-player-plus-minus-statistics/2014/
Also, we've played 4 games, while 2/3 of the league has only played 3. This goes hand in hand with being 4-0 and a 13.5 point margin of victory.
The Rockets have won against teams they should win against. It's a good start. Usually we blow road games to those types of teams. Professionalism and maturity is what that is showing. I'm glad where this season is going so far.
The rest of the week, we'll get to see how the team responds in a close game. They need to be tested. Will the starting unit continue to dominate? Can the bench deliver?
Yeah, I agree that the competition has been weak, but LA and Utah on the road aren't gimmies, and that game last night could've easily turned into trap game. Beating Miami on the second night of back should be a good win too.
Our point differential is +13.5. I would expect our top players to be on top of the league in +/-. Also, having a player or two with very high +/- may or may not be a good thing, especially if the team differential is close to 0. It just means that we are relying heavily on a few players to win games. BTW, we scored exactly 104 points 3 games in a row. Maybe there's something to it.
Yes, LA and Utah aren't all that, but we played them on the road on their opening night. These weren't February games. It was opening night. The crowd's were pumped, the players were excited, and yet we won both convincingly.
Totally agree. Every road win is critical. Even the ones against bad teams are not gimmes. We were 21-20 on the road last year. There were only 3 teams(OKC,SAS, and GSW) who finished better than 23-18 on the road.
This is what I was saying. People don't realize just how much beating teams you should beat is, look at the Spurs last year.
Any NBA team has a puncher's chance to win on any given night. A 4-0 start against sub par teams is still impressive. I'm pretty sure last year's team would have lay an egg already. Good teams don't have a "philly game" and Rockets are taking care of business. It's a good sign and I'm optimistic about this year.
