Shultz signing takes money away elsewhere. Oh well. I like Shultz.
Unfortunately we can't sign all of our FA's as they all want raises.

Adding Christian Wilkins would have helped our run defense and Sneed would have given us
another shut down corner.....freeing up safeties to help key on the run at times.

A pundit said we (Texans) were 11th in defense last season. Would have been better with my
    additions.

I've been against drafting an Offensive Tackle and I'm on record as saying the Texans have
spent years addressing the O-line for years.....throwing money and draft picks at it. At some time
they need to step up to the plate and deliver. But what if they get hurt again? Texans lost 100 yards
per game when Tank went out last year.....I addressed that by doing acting Roman Wilson.

But you have to come to terms that Tytus Howard and Kenyon Green are always injured. Mims acts as backup with say George Fant re-signed. But Fant served well in a pinch, he scored kinda poor as
a pass defender by PFF. Mims is a long term option when (cough, cough)......we are ready to
give up on high priced Tytus Howard and Kenyon Green. Some have come to terms with it sooner
    than others.

Here is some homework Mr. I know more about the Texans than everyone

I’m not against OLine injury security and depth. I’m against spending our first round pick on it.

Well in my posting I spent money on:

a solid DT thru free agency in Christian Wilkins which
will have greater skills than a drafted player.

Malik Collins is getting paid well....you don't draft to sit Malik Collins and have that money coming
off the bench. You don't waive Collins and have that much dead money, imo.

And I showed us signing our LB corps and Greenard. Patrick Queen is too expensive and
Perryman is rated right behind Queen. How much all these players go for in free agency
is a crap shoot. Probably too much for us to sign our own or better from FA.

Shut down corner in Sneed. Sneed has gone up against most of the great WR's in the
game and has held his own. Better than any drafted player we might select.

Often Tackles are selected in the first round. Mims is rated as the fourth best Tackle in this draft
by many. Tells you how fast the Tackles are going with Mims as 4th best going at #23.
The quality of WR in this draft is a deeper pool than Tackle.

Yes, I could have gone best receiver at #23 but the Tackle drafted in the second round will have
more flaws than receivers in comparison. DeMeco says he wants receivers that separate and
Roman Wilson is a guy that separates. Seen as another Tank, will come in handy if he gets
    hurt again this year.

What's your selections while using our cap space, free agency $ projections, while using
the draft Simulator? You'll find that often your targeted player to draft is not often there
    when
    you want him.

Trade down from 23 with KC, rcvd 32, their second, seventh and William Gay. May have traded KC second with Buffalo but I can't remember the trade.

Regardless, who wouldn't love this kind of draft?

    PICK: 32 RND: 1 (HOU)
    Adonai MITCHELL
    WR Texas
    WR2 from day 1

    PICK: 59 RND: 2 (HOU)
    T'Vondre SWEAT
    DT Texas
You can't run on us anymore

    PICK: 60 RND: 2 (HOU)
    Junior COLSON
    LB Michigan
    Denzel Perryman replacement

    PICK: 86 RND: 3 (HOU)
    Leonard TAYLOR III
    DL Miami (FL)
Former 5 star whose play never matched up hopefully Demeco can reach him

    PICK: 122 RND: 4 (HOU)
    MarShawn LLOYD
    RB USC
Another body at rb, combine number look okay, 4.48 forty at 5'9" 220lbs

    PICK: 126 RND: 4 (HOU)
    Renardo GREEN
    S Florida State
    Corner Safety body

    PICK: 224 RND: 7 (HOU)
    Tyler OWENS
    S Texas Tech
    Measurables without the game tape

    PICK: 238 RND: 7 (HOU)
    Trevin WALLACE
    LB Kentucky
He's become a late round favorite of mine. He shows up on tape, special teamer at worst

    PICK: 247 RND: 7 (HOU)
    Eyabi OKIE-ANOMA
    DL-EDGE Charlotte
Another 5 star guy who couldn't make it to class anywhere he went, been with 4 or 5 colleges, come people just aren't good students

    PICK: 252 RND: 7 (HOU)
    Jordan MAGEE
    LB Temple
Another athlete at LB, special teamer at worst as well

And William Gay who could maybe step right in for Cashman.

Missed on another late round guy Ive been targetting
    Tip Reiman TE illinois
    6'5" 271 ran a 4.64
Should already be a guy who can help with inline role and as a speacial teamer. His combine numbers show he's also not a total stiff athletically. Would be a nice backup blocking tight end at worst.

    Post Collins 4 round draft:

    Trade 1-23 for 3-76 and Denver's 1 and 2 in 2025.

    2 - 59 Darius Robinson EDGE

    Darius Robinson EDGE Missouri
    Height: 6 - 5 | Weight: 285 lbs | RAS: 8.83
At 6’5″, 291 pounds, with 35″ levers for arms, Robinson is a lab-built power generator. He leverages his explosiveness and length into displacement energy incredibly well by loading his base.

Additionally, he’s an albatross in close pursuit, a stack-and-shed extraordinaire in run defense, and he flashes exciting bend, stunting agility, and hand-fighting nuance as a pass rusher. - Ian Cummings 12/20/23

    3 - 76 Payton Wilson LB

    Payton Wilson LB NC State
    Height: 6 - 4 | Weight: 233 lbs | RAS: 9.81

    Strengths

    - Has hyper-elite explosiveness and long speed and can cover absurd amounts of ground

    - Twitched-up support LB who uses abrupt micro-movements to sift through congestion

    - Contact tackler who can encase runners with his frame, using leg churn to drive force

    - Alert coverage LB with great blind spot IQ, spatial awareness, and hip leverage

    - High-motor defender who is legitimately always around the football

    Weaknesses

    - Has a lean and narrow frame with below-average length

    - Lack of mass and inability to halt momentum allows runners to finish

    - Can still improve hand precision on swats and rip moves as a pass rusher

    - Has torn his ACL twice and suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in 2021

    - Will be a 24-year-old rookie at the start of the 2024 season

    3 - 86 Marshall Kneeland EDGE

    Marshawn Kneeland EDGE Western Michigan
    Height: 6 - 3 | Weight: 265 lbs | RAS: 9.54
    Coming Soon!

4 - 123. Theo Johnson TE Penn State

    Theo Johnson TE Penn State
    Height: 6 - 6 | Weight: 259 lbs | RAS: 9.99
    Coming Soon!

    4 - 127. Jacob Cowing WR Arizona

    Jacob Cowing WR Arizona
    Height: 5 - 8 | Weight: 168 lbs | RAS: 6.05

A dangerous slot receiver who is one of the quickest players in the nation, Cowing easily creates separation. He's comfortable running a variety of routes both inside and out, fitting the modern NFL game nicely. Cowing has the speed and ability to create after the catch to be much better than most small, thin receivers who haven't worked out in the league.

It's easy to see Cowing being successful at the next level because he wins so easily against man coverage. His overall athletic upside isn't as dynamic as some of his peers, but he has a solid Day 2 grade as a quality role player. - Ian Valentino

Good move trading back by the Texans, I didn't like CB, WR, DT at #23.

I feel Houston will bring in Xavien Howard (CB) from the Dolphins if he hasn't signed
    with a team yet.

    Draft Simulator :
    #42 Ladd McConkey (WR)
    #59 Ruke Orhorhoron (DT)
    #86 Blake Corum (RB)
    #123 Theo Johnson (TE)
    #127 Jaylan Ford (LB)
    #188 Marist Liufau (LB)
    #238 Demani Richardson (S)
    #247 safety or cornerback

    ------------------------------
    Offense

    WR) Tank ........Ladd McConkey

    TE) Shultz ......Theo Johnson

    OT) Tytus Howard
    OG) Shaq Mason ..............................FB) Hairston
    C) Scruggs ....................QB) CJ Stroud
OG) Kenyon Green .............................RB) Mixon / Dameon Pierce / Blake Corum
    OT) Tunsil

    WR) Nico Collins

    ----------------------
    Defense

    CB) Okudah [ ? Xavien Howard ? ]

    .,.............. OLB) To'oTo'o / Jaylan Ford / Marist Liufua

    edge) Will Anderson ........................S) Pitre
    DT) Fatukasi
    ....................MLB) Al-Shaair
    DT) Hinish / Ruke Orhorhoron
edge) Danielle Hunter .......................S) Jimmie Ward

    .................OLB) Christian Harris

    CB) Stingley

Yeah well, trading our first round pick might be an indication that we (Texans) are probably looking
for depth through the draft and not, so much, starters.

Not everyone can be a doctor or a lawyer, and the world needs ditch diggers too. Some players
in the league are starters.....some are on specialty teams.

    Same to you.

I feel the Texans are targeting:

*either McConkey or Roman Wilson (receiver) with our first pick (#42)

*either Ruke Orhorhoron or Kris Jenkins or McKinney-Jackson with pick #59
to challenge or fortify Tim Settle/Foley Fatukasi

*Best running back available that fits our blocking scheme at #86 (Blake Corum fits it perfectly)

*Linebacker to challenge To'oTo'o at either #123 or #127

*TE at either #123 or #127 to challenge Shultz and Brevin Jordan

The rest is icing on the cake special teams. Steve Tasker made a living as a
special teamer. Bill Bates began as a special teamer. Some of these guys drafted
    might be special teamers.

Here I did a 7-round mock using PFF'S simulator. My obvious focus was rebuilding the defensive line while adding another quality receiver to the arsenal and another running back. I would like to add a quality CB and TE but that will have to wait.

We need more size upfront in the D-line and speed at the LB. Also, we need another offensive weapon.

    #88 Xavier Leggett WR Trade

So. Is Green gonna rise to the occasion and get the OL producing at a higher level, pop that running hole for Mixon and give CJ little extra time?
