Hate to break it to you but MBB has been dead and gone as well per @DonnyMost.

What does it matter to you, being that you don't watch any live college sports and all...right?

I love me some @DonnyMost and college hoops. We’ll figure it out I guess. I’m disappointed, personally, about the trajectory of college football. Pretty sure my schools will be left out of even the hope of competing there…and that sucks. I wonder if the networks realize that a lot of guys like me will stop watching the rest of it when we no longer feel like we are part of it.

You think I'm on some kind of hunger strike or something?

The CFP expands to 12 teams this year so more schools will be a “part of it” than any other time in the modern era. And yes the networks will profit greatly from this but hard to argue against giving more teams a shot at it.

Yeah, I'm hopeful some model like that sticks. Just have concerns about where it ultimately seems to be going.

This would be a flagrant display of power by the B1G and SEC.

Remember when I said I was concerned about trajectory? They know it’s ridiculous, but this is the SEC and Big10 laying the groundwork in saying, “hey we tried…we gotta go do our own thing.”

I’ll say again…,please don’t **** up college hoops this way

The Big 12 and ACC should accept the 3/3/2/2 guarantee. There is no problem with that IMO.

Where the B1G and SEC are really flexing and humiliating them is codifying the two guaranteed first-round byes. However, as revenue disparities start exploding, the results on the field will make the byes a moot point

I think the Little 2 should capitulate.

ACC/Big 12 need to start gobbling up G5 basketball programs IMO.

I tend to agree. I’d start talking with Duke and Gonzaga…both are big brands in college hoops. MAYBE Miami gets left out of the Big10/SEC and you end up with them. I assume they end up with NC State, Pitt, and Louisville. You’re already adding Arizona, which has had a lot of success in hoops.

If the current conference included the teams it will have next year, you’d have the following ranked teams all in the same conference:

    1. Houston
    6. Arizona
    7. Kansas
    8 Iowa State
    15. Baylor

3 of the top 4 other teams receiving votes are in the conference: BYU, TCU, and Tech.

4 of the top 8 teams is pretty sporty.

But more important in all this (more important even than winning and losing currently - ugh) is brand. Duke is massive. Gonzaga is really good.

I’m not sure what all that gets you, because you can’t replicate the excitement of March Madness by keeping out even a ton of schools that won’t come anywhere close to being invited into the Big 12.

yup. Absolutely no reason to expand the march madness tourney. A program has had all year to build their resume to make a case to be one of the 68 teams invited or qualify to the tourney. That's easily enough.

There's already a you aren''t good enough tourney outside of it. Programs either just need to be better or join the NIT as a stepping stone to hopefully be better for next year
